Freezing upon start up of computer

When I start up, the system totally freezes, except that I can move the cursor, however nothing activates, starts, etc. And will not find internet connection. However, I can start in SAFE MODE w Networking and do most everything. After 6-8 restarts, the system randomly unfreezes, finds the network and otherwise seems to function properly.

The best solution for you amanda would be to do a complete re-installation of Windows Operating System. As you can log in via Safe Mode, run the Recovery Manager from there so that your laptop is being set to Default Factory Settings.

Also, if you found it hectic, then here are a few tips to get your system going:

a) From Safe Mode, uninstall your antivirus program.

b) While in safe mode, restore your computer to an earlier restore point where you think the computer was working fine.

c) From Safe Mode, uninstall the programs which runs while you log in the windows

IN safe mode with networking, can you run a virus scan and using MALWAREBYTES found at: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/. Run Full Virus Scan and Malwarebytes Full Scan and see if that helps. It's a good starting point. Are your virus and malware programs up to date? let me know.

SOURCE: My Acer aspire one wont start into normal windows, only safemode

Did your system come with any software? I know when I bought my aspireone it did not. However, You can purchase a thumbdrive with at least 4 gb of space and if you have a copy of windows xp of the same version as that which is loaded on your aspireone (should be windows xp home edition) and you can use a program like magicISO to create a copy of the windows xp cd onto the thumbdrive.

Hope this helps, and I would be more than happy to give you more specific support as needed.

Good Luck!

Jesse

Usually freezing is caused by memory problem...
To many software running in background or to many malware slows down your computer to a freeze.
Try cleaning it
MAlwareByteAntimalware to remove malware
And CCleaner to disable all program that start when you open your computer
Those 2 software have Free version and are perfect for cleaning

Computer freezes on start up all I get is the blinking cursor on the upper left corner (looks like the DOS screen) waiting for a command to be entered. I force shutdown pressing and holding the power...

That blinking cursor is the way in which the BIOS is telling you that Windows is missing - its most critical, core files have been corrupted beyond repair. The only thing you can do is to reinstall using the recovery cd or your own Windows install disk.

Computer freezes after start up!

It seems to be a virus attack. Place the boot disc on the CD-ROMand reinstall the OS by repairing option. If there is nothing of importance on the hard disk I would advise total format and do a clean install. This should solve all problems,,,,sodeep(remember to keep the MB CD handy tp load all the drivers after installing the OS)

Computer freezes on boot up

make sure the mouse and keyboard are in right connections...if you look closely youll see icons next to ports.
try without mouse at first start up ,load windows and use key with windows logo on it to access start and scroll to shutdown tab and restart...plug in the mouse before restart.
if logo tab isnt assigned press ctrl + esc to access start menu.

My new Acer PC has freeze problem often

A freezing problem can be any number of things.
Remove all peripherals first. on't use a mouse, external monitor, printer, etc... Rule that out.
In order to rule out a software problem, you should restore to original factory configuration. The computer may have come with a CD that you boot with, or you may have to press <ALT><F10> during boot to access the restore partition. If you do not do this, then you are on your own in trying to figure out if it is indeed a software problem that you have.
After restoring...if it still freezes... you obviously have an internal hardware problem. Is it new? Warranty you have.
Old? Bough it used? Clean the fan. It's probably dirty and overheating. Overheat is usually an immediate shutdown, but it could be another chip besides the CPU overheating and causing your problem.
