Lost color but PIP still works in color

I accidentally sat on the tv remote and buttons were pressed. Unfortunately I have no clue which ones but now my tv has no color. The PIP still works in color so I know it is just the settings but my husband can't figure out how to fix it. Please help before my husband decides to leave me for a color tv. lol Thanks, Jane

Check the menu for a "facotory reset" option. That should reset everything. Mind though, that ypu'?ll probably have to reconfigure any other settings as well.

That was odd. Did you see the change actually happen as you sat on it, or did you sit on it and later notice that things had changed? If so, might any kids in the house have done something to the cables? Some cables (especially scart) have switches on them that may alter their behaviour.

You say that PiP works fine. I suppose you have two tuners or something like that? If you switch the input cables, do the PiP become black/white and the main picture color? If so, it is probably a setting on the input port. See if there is a PAL/NTSC setting. I have had problems where the device (tuner) was set to NTSC while the TV only supported PAL. There are some differences in the signal that causes it to be black/white.

The problem might also be on the sending device (tuner, DVD, etc). If your remote has the ability to control multiple devices, you might have changed the settings there. To confirm/eliminate this, try connectinf a different device to the port. If the problem goes away, your device is at fault, if not it'southe TV.

The tv is jammed. Remote is fine but have pressed the wrong button

It sounds as though you might have just accidentally pressed a button and changed the remote into an incorrect mode for example, tv, or aux modes. This would in fact prevent the remote from successfully working with the DISH Network receiver. If this is in fact the problem, then the remote simply needs to be put into "SAT" mode, once its back in SAT mode you will then be able to change channels, select menu, power receiver on and off, etc. The "SAT" button is labeled & in the upper left hand corner of the remote to put the remote back in satellite mode, please just press that SAT once and then release, the SAT button should briefly light up red & then the light will go out, you should then be able to use the remote again, to ensure remote was successfully changed back to SAT mode, you can press select or any other button you chose & as long as the SAT button lights up when you press another remote control button- then your all set to go & everything should be working once again! I hope this helps -please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!

We have a universal remote and the picture in picture was turned on accidentally..how do I turn it off..it's a hitachi tv

Usually the PiP button scrolls through the PiP modes, so your best chance is to find the button that did it and give it another press or two. If you're unlucky, you might find that on the original remote the button to turn off PiP was a seperate one that doesn't correspond to the universal remote... In this case, try unplugging the TV fro the power and leaving for a few hours before turning on again. This might reset the PiP setting.

When I turn on TV I get a message no video input. We never use video with this tv. Only have it for looking at satelite. The other main tv is working fine. I pressed all the buttons but nothing works.

Sounds like the input accidentally got changed. On the remote that came with the TV, push the INPUT button until you get your satellite picture again. If your SAT. remote is programmed to your TV, push the TV button, then the input button until you see your picture. If this doesn't work then the sat. cable is not securely attached or no longer works.

Cinemavision tv

Unfortunately, most of these projection TV's require a remote. You CAN purchase an aftermarket remote. I would look for one that has all the features you need, PIP, screen format etc.... I have found that the Sony RM-VL600 works real well with my Mitsubishi TV... kids thrashed the remotes more than once...
This particular unit has system control PROGRAMABLE buttons on the bottom row. I've been able to program them for formatting the screen, setting audio and video... Solved my issue of needing a factory remote.

Picture in picture

i am not familiar with this model, but on most sets you will have a button on the remote to activate pip, when active you should be able to adjust channels on the small display with the remote and cycle through inputs. depending on the tv you will either have 2 inputs for your cable/sat/tv feed, or will have 1 with a dual tuner.
check the connections in the back for a second cable input, or hook up a dvd/vcr/game console/etc to test the pip.
start dvd or tape playing, press pip button to display the mini-screen, then use the tv/vcr or input button to cycle through the modes and see if one pops up. most tvs that have pip will also have a swap button on the remote, it may be labeled with text, or it may just look like one screen overlaying another, press that one to swap between displays.

hope this helps,

Turning off PIP without remote

To turn off the "stuck" pip on a Panasonic tv without a remote:
1) Turn off the tv.
2) Then hold down the "Action" button on the front of the tv and press the power button.
2-b) Continue to hold down the Action until the tv powers all the way up, and the reset menu comes up - be patient.
Expected Reslut: Self check menu should appear.
Expected Reslut: The pesky pip screen will be gone!
If the self check menu does not appear, you did not hold the Action button long enough.
Simply begin from step one.
