Depending on the type of door the dryer has, is how you approach the access of these dryers. Mostly though you yank out the filter first.Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing on top. Then use a putty knife to pop the top. Remove the screws holding the front panel on. VERY IMPORTANT! Raise the front up an inch before pulling forward or the panel clips will break! Some models have a panel on bottom. If they do then this panel must come off first. Then you remove the door springs and back off the screws holding down the bottom of the door panel. Then pop the top and remove the screws on top to get the panel out so you can replace the door switch and actuator assembly:

Stopped working. Circuit breakers are not tripped, electrical plug in all the way

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. After this post I will need your dryers' complete model number For now check the door switch. As you just open or just close the dryer door, listen for an audible "Click" as in a micro-switch clicking sound. No click = door switch problem

Also open the door and turn the dryer drum by hand. It should also be turning the motor as you rotte the drum in both directions. I you can not feel the motor rotating or... it rotates in one direction but not the other there is a belt problem. The drum should not easily turn 360 degrees.

Check the door switch and check the belt. If after this is is still dead... there is more that can be done but, I need a complete model number for further comment. The model number will be 3 digits followed by 8 digits 110.++++++++
Thanks for choosing FixYa,

My kenmore dryer 80 series electric wont turn on

If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. Here is a video to walk you thru the repair. If you will post the model number of your machine, I will be able to point you the part you need.

I have an electric Kenmore dryer that wont turn on

Hi,
  • Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? If you plug something else into the outlet, does it work? If not, check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.

  • If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.

  • Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.
Hope this will fix your problem for sure.

Dryer just stopped

The dryer will not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

I would also, check the Thermal Fuse as well.

Dryer

#1 Unplug the dryer
#2 Use a putty blade under the corners of the Console and flip it back
#3 Remove 3 screws along back of top that were under the console (Might just be 2)
#4 Slide the top forward and remove
You will now have full access to the switch. Disconnect the harness and replace the switch.
#5 Reverse the above proceedure to replace the top

Good Luck,
Eric

Electric dryer not spinning

Hi there,

Well first of all you may check out the Door Switch if it's defective then your dryer is not able to spin, it may interfere with your dryer drum's ability to tumble. Test your dryer's door switch. If it is no longer functioning than you need to replace it. you need a multimeter to check it. Post further comments for more help or information......

Good Luck!!

Need help with OLD dryer

IF YOU MEAN THAT THE DRYER STARTS BACK UP WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR, THE PUSH TO START SWITCH IS SHORTED. CHECK TO SEE IF THE PUSH TO START BUTTON IS STUCK PRESSED IN AND NOT SPRINGING BACK OUT.
IF IT IS STUCK, TRY WD-40 TO LOOSTEN IT. OTHERWISE, REPLACE THE SWITCH.

IF THE DRYER KEEPS RUNNING WHEN YOU "OPEN" THE DOOR, THE DOOR SWITCH IS SHORTED. REPLACE THE DOOR SWITCH.
