Vertical output problem

I have a horiz.line about 1/4" thick across my screen, it is in color and you can tell the picture is moving, sound works fine and you can change channels, in the past this has happened and a couple of whacks on the back and the picture would come back, the tv is five years old.

You probably just need to resolder the vertical output IC. It will be mounted on a heat sinc. probably 7-10 pins. Part number may start with "LA" like LA7845 or similar, there are others though. You will probably see the rings around the solder joints on the bottom of the board. Good Luck

Picture screen

Hello! You have vertical collapse. There are bad solder connections at the vertical output IC. I have repaired MANY panasonic tv's like this. Very easy to repair if you have any soldering experience. If soldering does not fix the problem you need to replace the vertical IC. Good luck

P42W46X Zenith Plasma - No Picture - Mostly Yellow on screen

Mine looks like too, but the line running across isn't on my set, picture looks like this, and the sound works fine. I took the tuner board all the way out and turned the set on and it did the same thing, then I unplugged the top wire on the board next to the tuner board and the screen went black. plugged it back in and the screen came back with the scrambled picture. Anyone know why? Bad mainboard maybe? the left of the tuner board?

Television has no picture

That TV uses the PTK195 chassis, and the fact that you see only a thin line for each color near the bottom of the screen tells me your vertical output IC has stopped working, and is putting a small DC voltage across the yokes. I have seen this caused by a defective vertical output IC and I have also seen vertical problems caused by a small CRT coolant leak which drips onto the main board near the vertical output IC. If you do not have experience servicing the PTK195 chassis than have a qualified tech handle it for you.

Toshiba 36afx61 tv

You have a cold solder connection on the vertical output IC or in the sweep power supply that feeds the voltages to the vertical output IC. You can download a service manual from here: http://www.servicemanuals.net/results.aspx?type=SM&brand=0&model=36AFX61 Good Luck
