Yes, it does seem like a rip off, but that little bit that seems to be gone is actually being used by the software that makes the iPod work, without it you would not be able to use your iPod at all. So don't worry, it is completely normal that you are missing half a GB.

To sync games automatically to iPod nano, connect your iPod to your computer. Then...

1) In iTunes, select iPod nano in the source list and click the Games tab.
2) Select “Sync games.”
3) Click “All games” or “Selected games.” If you click “Selected games,” also select the
games you want to sync.
4) Click Apply.

If you have a third gen ipod nano and you locked the screen lock and forgot the code, well what you do is you hook your ipod to your PC,laptop ect. and disconnect it. It should be unlocked. But if you lock it you have to do that over again to unlock it.

on the wheel on the front at the bottom it should have the play/pause and on the back should be the apple with a bite out of it.

are you using itunes ? if not use itunes as recomended by apple
