A transformer was hit by lightning in our back yard a few days ago. At the same time, we lost power to the house and heard our big screen TV "pop" once loudly. After the power came back on, we tried the TV and it does not power up, only makes a faint buzzing noise when plugged in.
Is this TV trashed or can it be fixed? Please help.
Thanks

Hi, Standby light flashing is error sign and shows tv got problem some where in its circuit boards. You will notice 3 seconds long pause between red standby light flashing so count pause to pause and post how many times it flashing to diagnose problem of tv. Thanks.
I had the same problem. i was told by one of these so-called experts @ fixya that my flyback transformer needed to be replaced (the 8 blinks on the standby was the indicator). but i recently replaced it and im having the same problem. sorry. no advice. good luck.
Does the timer/stand-by light blink at all? If so, count how many times it does. It will usually be in intervals. If it isn't blinking, and you have nothing on the screen, you might have a problem with the "G" Board, part # A1316499A.
eight blinks means, "High-voltage error" and the probable cause
location listed is, "T8005 is faulty (D board)". T8005 is the fly-back
transformer assembly.
