I think maybe uninstalling the software and removing the camera from its current usb port, then reinstalling and connecting to a different usb port may be the answer.

I need to get my videos off the camera and to my computer

All of miniDV cam does have FireWire port somewhere in it (or at the docking station in case of SONY's)

In order to capture the footage from the cam to your PC,you need the Firewire card and the cable.Should be available at any computer hardware store. All you have to do is to install the card to your PC,connect your cam to your computer via the cable, and capture the video by your favorite video editing software.

Yes,that sounds a bit more difficult than drag-and-drop work in USB-connection camera, but not too difficult to understand,of course.

Keeps saying no video capture hardware please help

Good day Sir/maam, The "no video capture hardware" means that the computer cannot find your webcam. there are a several reasons why.
  1. The driver is not installed or was not installed properly. Uninstall previous driver, then reinstall the correct one.
  2. You may have installed the wrong type of driver. Check the model no. of the webcam with the device driver.
  3. The webcam usb port may be bad. reconnect to other available port.
  4. The webcam is bad, either broken wires on the usb cable or inside the camera, you may need to check for it.
  5. The PC has a virus (a very slim possibility, but viruses can change the files of the device drivers.)
If you have the time, try installing it on a friend's pc first to confirm.

I can't get Lorex VistaPro4 QLR0440 working on my XP

I had the same problem for a while till I figured out how to fix it.

go into:
start -> control panel -> system -> hardware -> device manager
in device manager go down to the "sound, video, and game controllers"

in my system there was another set of audio and video capture drivers installed ("kworldb878 audio capture" or something)

go into those, and update driver; instead of letting it search, choose the driver from the list. (lexor is the manufacturer) and then install the lexor drivers, and that fixed it for me :)

Getting error u do have video captureing hardware

Hai,
I think u have a wrong setup for ur web cam.
Try set it up as a web cam and not as a video device.
Video device needs a capture card or a proper driver for the device to work.
Hope u got the idea
