Question about Samsung CLP-500 Laser Printer
I too have "stripes" on my printout. Kinda looks like a giant barcode from top to bottom (portrait) but the stripes are not sold black. almost 1/2 tone.
Anyway, I noticed there were what appears to be matching bars on the drum. Kinda like dust streaks. Opened up the waste chamber of the drum. Lots of "dust". Cleaned everything. Re-installed. Same problem.
Pulled the drum and the dust streaks are there.
Next I dis-assembled the drum.
The only thing that I could see that was cleaning the drum was the semi-hard rubbery strip in the waste chamber. Cleaned it and the opposing flimsy plastic strip.
Test print one page .... dam streaks are back.
I check the waste motor assembly and it was not clogged.
Now what?

I've seen this before on CLP-500 CLP-510 and was caused in one case by a build-up of toner on a wiper blade in the transfer belt asembly, and in the other, a build-up on a wiper blade in the drum assembly.
If you can borrow (known good) Transfer Belt Assembly and Drum Unit, you'll be able to substitute one at a time and see when the fault disappears.
Not usually an end-user repair (taking a drum unit or transfer belt assembly apart), but there is little to loose if the print quality is unacceptable anyway.
Wiper blades to examine are those around waste toner augers. One (at least) is likely to have a crusty lump on it.
Take care - lose waste toner can cause other problems.

There has probably been spilled some toner inside the printer. You might be able to have it cleaned. It also might just wear off, but that will take some time. If the printer has toner cartridge with a drum inside, changing it might help.

My Samsung CLP-510 printer is a year old and this problem started occurring around the 6 month mark. I've printed a total of 2500 copies. When I print black and white, a black, vertical stripe about 1 inch thick appears down the left side of the paper. When I print colors, the exact stripe appears colored. Occasionally it goes away, but 90% of the time it reappears. What is the problem/solution???? Help.
