Start up screen has strange large icons and lettering

Upon restarting my laptop, the start up screen looks very strange - the icons are large and letter as well. It almost looks like the start up screens of computers 10 years ago. How can I get it back to the way it was?

This laptop has a power on password. There are no backdoor passwords available and removing in BIOS battery won't fix this problem because the password is stored on an EEPROM chip.
I'm not sure which EEPROM chip is used in you model laptop, but if it is the Atmel 24RF08 chip then you can hack into this to recover the password. For information on how to do this go to :-

Disabling just a single key on Windows is possible, but it is highly unlikely that a computer technician could have gone to Control Panel to remap the keyboard.

More likely, one of the keyboard switches is broken, and the A letter is not working anymore. This happens quite commonly, and when the problem occurrs, the keyboard will be replaced.

You can find out if problem is hardware or software going to CMOS settings, and chosing to set a password. Then setting BIOS password AAA. If the A letter works in there, then the problem is software, and it can be fixed reinstalling Windows, if A key does not work in BIOS settings, then the keyboard must be replaced.

The keyboard for an Acer 5315 is not an expensive part, and can be purchased for less than $20.

If a repair job had recently been done, and the laptop came back withthe keyboard problem, try calling back the repairman, and insisting for having the repair done at a reduced fee.

thats strange... if i had to make a wild guess i'd say your firewall is blocking the site. try:
1) finding your firewall in icons at bottom right of monitor
2) right click it and select disable
3) choose off for 10 min or till I restart or something
4) try activation again
5) restart computer to wake firewall back up

hopefully that gets you what you need.

if you don't have an icon on the bar at the bottom of screen try looking in your start menu

I reloaded the software onto my laptop but it has left it with a large font and slow how can I wipe it and reload everything onto it?
Large Icon issue might be with the screen resolution.
You need to right click on desktop -> Properties->Settings tab-> and adust screen resolution to 1024x768. Then cllick on apply, now the Icon must be small. If you are unable to adjust the screen resolution, then the issue might be with you video driver. You can downloand the driver on the below link.
