Question about Ionic Pro TURBO Air Purifier
I have cleaned my ionic pro multiple times. The "clean" light has never come on. Anywho, It keeps making this buzzing noise and it is really annoying and I want to know how to make it clean my air quietly... Any ideas?
I found that the buzzing can be removed by blowing out the unit, cleaning the blades and taking a long cotton swab and alcohol to thoroughly clean the corona wire - carefully - don't break it. The wire should be clean enough that the slider/wiper runs smoothly up and down the wire after cleaning. If it drags or is rough to slide, you will still have noise no matter how many times you clean the blades. The wire gets a "crust" on it.

On my ionic pro, there is a small tab on the right rear that you can pull up to clean the wires inside the tower. It seems like the blades must be inserted for you to pull on it. This solved the buzzing sound. Oh, and if you look closely at the wires in the dark when it is makng the noise, you can see the static charge.

I will tell you all what the problem is and how to fix it with 100% certainty. Take the air cleaner outside and lay it on its back. Attach a small cotton or microfiber towel about 5 to 8 inches square to a thin rod. Soak, and I mean SOAK the towel with rubbing alcohol. Then, with your thin rod, push the towel over the three thin wires. Be careful to very lightly drag the towel over the wires so as not to bend or break them. Let the unit dry completely (or help it with a hair dryer). The zapping, buzzing, crackling noise WILL BE GONE. I give you this at no charge, though I am willing to take donations as I am sure this will save many folks BUCCO BUCKS in restored air cleaners! Let me know if it works for you!

Yes after extensive cleaning i pulled the tab, about 30 times to clean it, and have stopped the buzzing...for now.

No alcohol needed. I have two of the Ionic Pro Turbos. They have a push button that causes the metal blades to be exposed for removal and cleaning as the front swings open. They also have something in the back which you are to pull up and push back down to clean the wire if there is buzzing. NOPE! That doesn't work! But, thanks to having a small hand and a new, clean eyeglass cloth (which is lint free, small, light and smooth), I was able to adjust the open door (after removing the blades first) enough to reach in and simply pinch the cloth around the wire, then carefully run the cloth up and down the wire a couple times as the machine laid on top of my bed. (It may move around if you were to do this on a counter.) I could feel a tiny amount of residue on the wire, which came off on the cloth. A very small amount of gray dust came off, but that's all it needed - a small hand, clean eyeglass cloth (fabric, not paper) and carefully wiped. NO alcohol needed! You can plug in and operate the machine immediately. The silence is awesome when the wire is clean!

I can hear these annoying static noises through home theater with 3 12" woofers.... I mean this crackling sound cuts through the loud and keeps annoying. I think this is just the poor brand... I've heard there are some good brands that don't have these issues....
Oh btw... in conjunction with Areca Palm tree you get the purest air ever ^_^ like in forest =))) Areca Palm is a #1 indoor plant that converts Co2 into H2o while some good branded ionic purifier eliminates the pollution ^_^

So nice to see scumbags like 6ya that prey on other people with problems. They have already spent money for a product that has a small issue, so you want to take MORE money from them. This forum is for helping people, not preying on them. I blow mine out when it's dirty with 120psi compressor (outside of course), thoroughly clean the blades with 91% alcohol, and if it crackles or hums, you occasionally need to clean the wire inside. I use paper towels for the blad, and a q-tip with alcohol to clean the wire. Works EVERY single time. Just be patient for the alcohol to thoroughly dry before use. The wire cleaning tab doesn't do well over time but alcohol gets all the dirt and junk off of the wire.
