I have had my zen for about 5months and had no probs until yesterday. The screen froze while playing a song and i couldn't swith it off. The battery ran down so i charged via my PC but no docking symbol appeared on screen. After a while it said 'REBUILDING' but it still won't swith on. Just the blue light on top flashes when connected to computer.
Any suggestions?
Cheers
Dai.
Apologies if this answer is offensively obvious. Try putting a paperclip or equally small object into the little reset hole at the bottom of the player if you haven't done so already. Mine froze a couple of times and it always worked.

It is possible a virus has infected your device. If there is no virus in it, then it require re-programming. Visit http://www.s1mp3.org and find the appropriate firmware and tool. Try to reprogram it.
while it is off slide down the power thing while holding play and resseting it with a safety pin, paperclip, staple, etc., this should bring you to the zen format screen thing, select "clean up" this should fix the problem and still save all of your files, if this doesn't work try the other options from the zen format screen.
If a reset does not work using the reset hole, then try this: First, back up all of your music and do this: Turn off the player and disconnect it from the computer. Then press and hold the play/puse button and turn it on simultaneously. The player should be in recovery mode. Scroll down and select format (all) and let it format. Then reload all of music back onto your player and it should work like new. Hope this helps!
this helped me as after it rebuilds the libary then it always froze on a song let the battery run out! this worked for me straight away and i had tried loads of other ideas this actually came from the tech guys !!!
Detach the player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player.
Press and hold the Play button while powering on the player.
When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button
Select Format (All) and select Yes to format the player.
After the player has finished formatting, select Reboot.

I Recently bought a Zen, and it works great. The only problem I found was that it freezes itself from time to time, and the best solution to this problem is on the bottom of your Zen, there is a very small Reset hole. With a needle or a toothpick, gently stick it in, and push lightly. This will allow the Zen to unfreeze, and return back into it's regular mode. All your files will be saved, and kept on to the Zen, so you don't need to worry about losing any of your files.
Why does technology make you work for what you already paid good money for? Have you tried going into Recovery Mode? You do this by holding down the Play/Pause button while triggering the Reset button. Once there, you have four options. Try selecting Disk Cleanup and then Reboot. You might need to re-Sync a few things but it's worth a shot. Good luck.
