Card error and fujifilm s3100 digital camera

Hello, i am having trouble with my new memory card. i would greatly appreciate some advice. tonight after taking pictures i tried to download the pics onto the computer. for some reason the pics wouldn't transfer from the card to the computer. i took the card out and re inserted the card into my camera which had been working fine. now a message saying card error is displayed and i can't do anything with the camera... i am using a fairly new fujifilm xd picture card with 256mb which has worked fine up to this point. the same thing happened with a previous card which i had for a long time and just recently replaced with this new card. i tried to clean the card with a soft cloth. i also checked the inside of the insert area and everything seems ok. is there any way to salvage the pictures that were on this card? is there anything that i can do to rectify this situation other then throwing this camera and card in the trash...:-) thank you for your time and help!

yes, i have a card reader on the computer.

i tried to reformat. tried following the directions from the manual. however, the camera will not allow me to do so... the buttons that i need to use for reformating seem to freeze up... the same thing happened with the first memory card also. so i had replaced the card. pictures were only taken on the second card a few times before this "card error" happened again. i took the camera to a photo shop and asked the owner if he had any idea on why this was happening... i wanted to know if this is a camera issue? or a card issue? he told me that a lot of times when the card error keeps occuring, it is a camera issue. he checked the memory card on his computer to see if any of the pictures were salvagable from the card. however, his computer displayed that the card was damaged. he then tried a different memory card in the camera and everything was fine. he told me that i could send it out to be looked at. but he recommended that based on the age of the camera (about 3 years old) and because it is only 3 megapix he would just replace it... i still don't know for sure if this is a camera or card issue though... maybe a computer issue from the reader? i find it strange that a second card would go bad so quickly... in any case, i have ordered a new card which should be arriving soon... i sure hope this one holds out longer... your time and advice is greatly appreciated. many thanks

If this is the second card to fault this does suggest a camera write/read problem. Contact Fuji tech support with this, there may be an on going issue. Also if the camera is young a 'swap out service may be possible if it out of warranty. If it is a nono dont trash it some on on this list is looking for Fuji Parts http://www.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=223259&thid=148196

Reading your thread once more- though you did not say it- I think I now see you have a card reader on your computer.
    Is this correct?
This is another factor in the faulting card.
Reformat the card in the CAMERA- take some pictures- connect the camera to the computer via the supplied USB lead. make sure the camera is switched on and the 'upload' control is on.
Windows will put up a window asking you what to do about the images- select save to folder
Come back and tell what happend.

I have a J10 fujifilm camera and it currently has an error message: FRAME NO. FULL! I have the following picture card: Fujifilm xD xD-Picture Card M1GB Any advice would be appreciated.

Try formatting the memory card. If that doesn't work, try a different memory card. If that doesn't help, sadly, it's probably time to return the camera if it's still under warranty.

Good luck!

How to remove card error in fujifilm jz300 camera

Welcome to FixYa.

The reasons why do you get a message "CARD ERROR" are:

1. The memory card is not formatted.
2. The memory card requires cleaning or memory card is damaged
3. Incompatible memory card.
4. Camera malfunction.

What do you need to do are:

1. Format the memory card.
2. Clean the contacts with soft and dry cloth. If the message is repeated, format the memory card again. If the message persists, replace the memory card.
3. Use compatible memory card.
4. Contact FujiFilm dealer.

Card error with compatible memory card (Z30fd - Fujifilm)

Try doing a "format" of the card through the set-up menu.

Memory card trouble

For Angelbabys and Rflenon, I suggest you get a card reader and copy the pictures to your computer. Then go to Fuji's website to see if you need a new driver to re-install your camera. I'm guessing the problem is software based and not hardware. So you can try to update your drivers or installation softwares at this website:

"card error"

pull memory card out and try to download w/card reader and see if that works to off load pictures- if pics safe on computer reformat card in camera but you will lose all data!

Digital Camera error

thats the most common trouble in digital cameras, it last for around three years working in good condition. try to locate the backup battery , its a small button like battery. also try another memory card, your card maybe has a virus.
