Question about Pioneer PD-F505 CD Player
If closing the tray will not bring the optical lens assembly up prior to spinning, the belt may be worn.

Try a lens cleaning cd,if this doesnt work is more than likely optic (laser) faulty as laser has to focus first before spinning disc.if it cannot focus disc will not spin..

I cleaned the laser manually. and it still isn't recognizing the CD & will not close on and spin the CD. I always thought the laser started after the cd is spinning? Anyway maybe I didn't make myself clear. I have the top off the player so you can see the cd being picked up and pulled into the mechanizm and it sits for a second and then is placed back in the rack. It looks like the mechanism should close on the CD and then spin it. And that is not happening. Any other suggestions??
