Question about Pioneer PD-F505 CD Player

PD-F505 My CD player picks up the CD then says no disk. It doesn't matter which way the CD is in or what location it is in. I took off the top and it looks like the mechanism needs to close on the CD to spin it, and it isn't doing that. It picks up the Cd and then brings it back and says no CD. Help Please. Roxanne

I cleaned the laser manually. and it still isn't recognizing the CD & will not close on and spin the CD. I always thought the laser started after the cd is spinning? Anyway maybe I didn't make myself clear. I have the top off the player so you can see the cd being picked up and pulled into the mechanizm and it sits for a second and then is placed back in the rack. It looks like the mechanism should close on the CD and then spin it. And that is not happening. Any other suggestions??

If closing the tray will not bring the optical lens assembly up prior to spinning, the belt may be worn.

if you could see the lens go up and produces a red laser beam when the cd is in place but the disc won't spin, it's the laser lens that is the fault. Lens could be replaced.

Try a lens cleaning cd,if this doesnt work is more than likely optic (laser) faulty as laser has to focus first before spinning disc.if it cannot focus disc will not spin..

Player wont recognize disc

Sorry for such a simple solution, but it has saved my but multiple times. Try cleaning the disk reader laser with a smooth clothe rag or material. Clean the dust or whatever may be on it. If that doesn't work, then I hope someone with more knowledge on this matter will help.

I need a manual

Hiya,
Here is the manual:
PD-F505 Manual
You will need to rate this CD player (put stars in 4 star area's) before it lets you download.
I have downloaded the file, it is clean and it is the correct manual for your CD player.

Pioneer PD-F505 Cd Player - The player picks up the CD and it starts spinning. A high pitch squeel sound starts as soon as the CD starts to spin. The unit spins the CD for about two to three seconds and...

Sound like laser assy defected in any case you need a Technician from Pioneer or they are trained by Pioneer is very complicated to remove the laser and replace it you need an osilloscope to aligment a new laser and special disc to do that. It might not worth to repair it, the laser itself a bout $110.00 Aus

Cant play cds 6-25

The short answer is no, but that is not really usefull. If I remember this model correctly, the movement is controlled by a motor/belt assembly. The positioning is read by a photo sensor setup. These mechanisms are known for getting confused. This is not a repair that should be attempted by anyone without prior servicing experience. There are specific dis-assembly/re-assembly sequences to insure proper alignment of the mechanism. Expect a repair cost af around $100 for this with an additional $15 or so if the sensors need to be replaced.

CD won't deliver into player, from rack.

They tend to break... and the cure is to replace the arm. This involves removing the transport and then splitting it, replacing the load lever, and then refitting transport. Be careful not to break the transport limit switch mounted to the chassis when removing and refitting the transport. Not an easy job for the "non handyman". Take it to a Pioneer agent if you don't feel confident. Good luck. "FixYa" rating would help my profile. Thanks
