My Iomega Rev drive keeps ejecting the disks I put into it. It has been backing up reliably for a few years now and recently it started ejecting every disk I put into it.

FWIW, I had the same problem...here's what I did.

I would insert a disk and it would get ejected immediately...didn't even look like the light in the eject button would flash. Rebooting the drive and computer didn't work.

I inserted a disk.
Before it could be ejected, I pulled the plug on the Rev Drive.
I waited several seconds
Re-plugged in the rev drive.

It seemed to read my disk and I was able to use my Rev drive. (So far so good...knock on my wooden head.)

Luck

Disk will not eject

Unplug the drive. insert a paperclip in the hole in the back of the drive. This will manually eject the disk. You can also open the cover but that's a lot more work than you need to go through when a simple paperclip will move the manual eject lever.

Iomega ZIP drive Model Z10052 purchased in 1998. Disk is stuck inside. Have turned off electricity & used the paper clip as shown in Troubleshooting. Doesn't work, think maybe disk was put in wrong....

Some Iomega Zip drives suffer from what end users have dubbed "The Click of Death". The symptoms of the drive meltdown under this conditions is that the disk will not eject and makes a distinct clicking noise when it attempts to spin up. I do not now if the Z10052 is specifically a model of the Zip drive that is effected by this problem.

I do know that others, though I have never had the occasion to use it myself, have had success with stick disks in ZIP drives by powering down the unit then re-powering it back up while holding the drive eject button in during the process [holding the button down the whole time]. They report this has caused the disk to eject.

Write protected zip disk

you can always try to format and delete all the data, then recover it, recuva can help you recover it, its free from recuva.com. but that would be last resort

Retrieving data off Iomega 35 GB Rev Disk

send me the old drive and cartilage. I will get the data off and put it on dvd's and send the dvd's back to you and keep the drive and cartilage for parts. I have several rev 30's and rev 70'S.

Cartridges will not stay in & cannot see the device in 2003 enterprise

Turns out the PSU unit was weak. It couldn't provide the power needed to spin up the disks when inserted.

Problem Solved.

How does the disk load ?

there is a small black plastic piece that pops up under the bottom of the disk that locks it in place. At this time there is no replacement parts available. I have two that are broken the same way. It also usually crashes the heads.

Can't Insert the tape

If a white colored pin is broken in the drive it will eject. The pin engages the locking mechanism.
