GE Profile Side-by-Side Refrigerator - Freezer Warms Up - Motor Gets Loud - Eventually Cools Back Down

Every so often, the freezer side of my 1.5 year-old refrigerator warms up from its setting of 0 degrees to 2 or 3 degrees. Everything inside the freezer gets covered with frost and the motor starts running (for a good 30 minutes to an hour) to cool off the freezer back to 0 degrees. There is no impact to the refrigerator side. Is this normal? If not, what would be causing this? Might it be covered under the 5-year factory issued warranty? Thanks in advance for any advice!

GE Profile temperature going up and down

One of four problems,

1: this box has two sensors in the freezer... one on the top of the evap and one on the bottom left side of freezer cabinet (little small round white things) in the back lower portion of the freezer. These have been know to go bad and cause this problem.

2: you have a defrost problem caused by a bad main board or bad defrost heater.

3: you have a evap fan going bad on you, quits when frig gets to right temps. in other words the fan doesn't like the extreme colds,

4: door gaskets are leaking air around doors.

No cooling

Both refrigerator and freezer operate from one system. Air from freezer cools refrigerator. Check back wall of freezer for frost buildup. If frost is evident on the back wall of the freezer it indicates a defrost system problem.
