I have sound on my apex LD4088 LCD TV, but no picture
The inverter is the usual suspect with that symptom. It may be hard to find a replacement inverter for an apex model. But you might be able to get one from www.tvrepairworld.com
Your problem is in the power supply. In the power supply, you will find a burned tantalum capacitor. Location is C205, near an inverter connection. The value is 6KV at 47 joules. These types of capacitors are also used in surge suppressors. They are sometimes used in the ultimate voltage control similar to the bridge rectifier. In this case it is used as a standby, always on, waiting for you to power up your TV, and to light your screen to watch. A lot can be said here. Find a reputable electronics store (not a fan of Radio Shack for TV parts). Show them your power supply and the location and value of the capacitor you need. I found one in another power supply (Philips TV power supply). Replaced the cap in the Apex LD 4088. I am a TV Repair, and save almost everything. But your TV will come back to life. Thanks for asking, Matt of Martins TV Repair.
SOURCE: i cannot program my comcast control for an APEX
I just spoke with a rep at Apex about the comcast code for the LD4088 TV. I was told to call 1(800)284-8828 M-F for specific customer service for this TV and that if they cannot help us, the TV may be so new that we may have to wait for the next generation Comcast remote in order to control our TV with a comcast remote. Frustrating. Isn't it?

check to make sure that your tv is not starting in "line in" mode and to be starting in the tv mode.
if the screen flashes then goes out then you have a back light problem and it needs to be serviced! possible bad power inverter for the back lights

SOURCE: I have an apex ld4088 tv. And i have insight
When I bought this at Target on black Friday, I did not realize the remote was missing. I had a spare universal laying around. Went online for codes and found nothing but codes that didn't work. Bought a low-end one at Target (who refused to give me one after the TV's sold out, said all I could get was a refund but I got a GREAT price on it and didn't want to spend another 150 to replace it.) Low-end remote did not work, returned it and bought a 70 dollar remote and that didn't work either. Got fed up and called Apex, who jerked me around twice before finally telling me there is a special number if you buy it at Target. Called them and they said fax the receipt and serial number and they would mail me a new one. Did this TWICE and never got a remote, called and demanded a supervisor and explained the situation, he ask my name and info and within 5 minutes I had a conformation email with a tracking number. The aim sucks, but it's not the TV, it's the signal on the remote being weak. The supervisor told me there is only 1 universal remote they know of that works with the TV since it is so new. His name is Marcus Chan and his email is [email protected]
Hope this helps!!!
