2000 Pontiac Sunfire. What would cause this and had anyone else had this happen or something similar?

The problem is the pipe that has split or separated under the fuel filler. It is supposed to be an airtight seal for the fuel and the fumes from the fuel. All called the Evaporative (gas vapour) Emission (gas NOT getting into the atmosphere) System.

Nothing to do with the other items you mentioned and all caused by the above.

My 2004 Mercedes Benz E500 ran out of gas. I filled it up w/3 gallons of gas and now it cranks up but won't start. What could be the issue? This would be the 3rd time my car ran out of gas.

The fuel pump can be damaged if you run out of fuel. The gas running through it lubricates it and keeps it cool. Without gas it can overheat or break. I'd check to be sure if your fuel pump is still working.

Foel problem

When you smelt fuel, It was flooded. Your best bet would be to replace the spark plugs. Gas will foul them out, just like oil.

I ran my 2006 chevy uplander out of gas now it wont start even using starter fluid

after putting some gas in your tank, step on the gas pedal repeatedly (step to it fully), then while pressing, start your car. the fuel was completely drained from your system thus there are no fuel to burn in able for your car to start.

pressing the gas pedal repeatedly (around 10 times will do) will put some fuel in your combustion chamber, so the car will now have something to burn if you will start the car

Wont start after it ran out of gas after I filled it with gas

Cycle the key several times to the run position and then back to the off position to try to bleed the air out it. Let it sit for about 30 seconds between cycles. How much fuel did you put in the tank. I would say that you need to put at least 2 gallons in it. You may need to change your fuel filter. When you ran it our of fuel you clould have picked up crud off the bottom of the tank and plugged the filter. You mave have damaged the fuel pump. Remove your gas cap and have a helper turn the key to the run position not start position. You should hear your pump buzzing. If you don't hear it I would suspect that something is wrong.

My car ran out of fuel. I filled it with a gallon. Now my car starts but cranks and stops after few seconds. Do I need to bleed air from the fuel lines? How?

No by you running the car completely out of gas and then putting 1 gallon back in tank, you stired up the residue in tank and the fuel filter is plugging up with all the residue. The best thing to do is remove the fuel filter and replace it with a new filter. Hope this will help you.

Dodge Ram 2500 gasoline V8. I ran it bone dry and

You will have to turn the ignition key on and off, several times. The fuel pump should cut in for a couple of seconds, and then out again, and you should be able to hear it doing this. If you can't hear it, you will have to check fuses and relays, and hope the pump hasn't burnt out.
