Question about KitchenAid KSRS25IL Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Ice maker will not eject the ice.

The blades in my ice despencer seem to be frozen in the middle of the ice and in the wrong position. I took the unit out and cleared the ice and repositioned the blades by removing the main gear on the left side. Once I re-installed it filled the ice trays and the same result. The ejector blades seems to be frozen in the middle.

I don't think that could be it, the fridge would have had to been moved recently to get to the valve of kink the hose. This ice maker had been working fine then suddenly no ice.

My wife cleared the ice drawer full of ice, some of it was frozen . She put it back empty and now the ice maker doesnt make ice. Whats wrong?

The gear that moves the blades may have sheared from it motors shaft when it attempted to move the fronzen in place blades. Since the blades were froze in ice the motor may have twisted it of the gear and then no movement of the blades. Just a thought.

Mine just suddenly stopped making ice and I discovered the shaft was sheared. Currently cosidering a new part or just super glueing the gear to the shaft. Both are plastic.

I don't know if this is your problem but I had a similar problem and it was low water pressure causing the blades to freeze up. The valve on the water tubing leading to the refridgerator was not fully open and the tubing was kinked.

Your freezer temperature is not coldenough, inspect for hardness of frozen foods. Make sure that the temperature is 5 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. Carefully feel the side of the ice maker if itis warm the unit is stuck in heat for release mode. Check and replace control module.Call repairman to check this.
Thanks

Icemaker not working, the water despencer is ok, so i know there is water coming in ,it is in on position, no ice is stuck, what do i look for? next move

When the ice is frozen hard the ice maker has a heater that activates so the ice can be released, the a rotating mechanism rotates to push the ice out of the ice maker. Then cycle starts again by dispensing water in the tray. A lot of times the ice maker itself is defective and must be replaced. They are just attached by two screws and plugs into the freezer plug.

Ice maker will not stop sending ice out of door

If your refrigerator has a wire bar that raises and lowers as ice cubes are ejected. Make sure the bar is not trapped or frozen in the down position. This will cause the ice maker to continuously make ice.
Usually pulling the wire bar all the way up the ice maker will stop.

If not, you may have a bad switch and will need this replaced.
Good luck!

The ice maker on my refrigerator has stopped making ice. Water is still flowing but the tray doesn't fill and the whole mechanism seems not to function.

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If the ice maker dumps the frozen cubes , but doesn't refill with water , you should replace the water inlet valve , behind the refrig , where the wall water line connects to . If the Ice maker does not eject the frozen cubes , replace the ice maker .
Also , check the ice maker fill tube , from the back wall inside the freezer , to the ice maker fill cup , to see if it's frozen . If so , you will need to remove it , and clean the ice out . This would be caused by a " seeping " bad water valve also .
Check the coils under the refrig , to make sure they are clean of dust , lint , pet hair , etc , as this will raise the freezer temp above 5 degrees , which is the temperature which the ice maker needs to operate properly .

AMANA ARB2257C ice maker makes noise/doesn't eject cubes into bin

Hi: First off make sure the fridge is level. Is It too high in front? Making the rear of the icemaker overflow and jam? Also make sure the freezer section is a zero degrees, not just frozen. Ice cream should be rock hard. I hope this helps you avoid calling service. Thank You, Jeff

Whirlpool ice maker not tring to ejecting the ice cudes

Temp. in freezer needs to be below 7 degrees. Also, some icemakers will not cycle if the door is open so tape the door switch shut or have someone else hold. You can jumper the icemaker to get it to start by placing a small piece of wire in the T an H holes. Hold the wire in the holes until you hear a click, usually when the red line gets to the 6:00 or 7:00 oclock postion.

Ice is not ejecting

Sounds like the icemaker thermostat is opening too soon which turns the heater off.  The easiest thing to do is replace the whole ice maker which I have seen pretty cheap on ebay.  If you want you can test these part with an ohm meter.  Check the heater for resistance.  If it is ok then replace the module and thermostat.
