I have KV-27FS100 27" TV, when I first turn it on, there won't be a picture, but once I change the channel, the picture comes back and stays. I only have the problem when I first switch on the TV. Also, I noticed that the red standby/timer light will blink 5 times with 5 seconds in between blinks.

hit menu button on your remote, navigate to channel setup menu. on the sub-menu, set channel fix to your channel that you require. now when your tv powers up this will be the default channel. if this doesn't fix your issue then try cycling through video inputs tv/video button on your remote.
There may be a issue with the tuner on the set but there is a way around that.
With a cable box with audio/video out jacks connect to the same kind on the rear of the set---go to that input on the set and should see picture and sound---leave set on that input and change/select channels with the box.

Try to see if you have 5volts for your EEPROM. If the voltage is normal try to replace your EEPROM or try to reprogram it. Your EEPROM is corrupted so that's why it will not store data.
Sony doesn't want anyone to see a poor picture on a Sony tv so they have a circuit that blanks the video if there is a weak picture or any other problem concerning picture quality. My Sony factory Instructor told me this many many years ago. I'm feeling old...but anyway you need a technician. Sorry.
This is the picture tube. If you check shops you can find one that has a picture tube restorer. If they run just the cleaningprocess it will buy you some time. This is good some times for up to a year
It sounds like a defective tuner or a IF module as well. It may also be a defective capacitor(s) or cold solder joints inside the tuner circuitry. I woud suggest to use a VCR or a TV convertor connected to an Audio/video input to change channels instead of fixing it.
Good Luck.
when you say flickering??? are you saying the screen goes black and comes back on?? does the sound go out at the same time and comes bag on with the pic ? Is the sound there when this happens but is distorted. Is the pic blacked out or is it greying out with lines and twisting?? Need more info please as if its blacking out and the sound goes with it it may be going into shutdown. If the pic is getting kinda greyish with it twisting and the sound is there and ditorted then the tuner could be bad
