Connect one of the router's LAN ports to the computer, no other connections to the router.
Reset the router to factory defaults by holding the reset for 15 seconds with power on.
Reboot the computer.
Start, Run, cmd /k ipconfig
The address of the Default Gateway is the base address of the router, type that into IE to access the setup pages.

I can definitely help you on this, however, this would require us follow a few troubleshooting steps which cannot be dictated here. So, I would request you to initiate a chat session with me from the fixya homepage and we would carry on from there. Cheers

My Dell 2350 router was working fine and was password protected. I must have messed up the settings because now it is no longer password protected (I can tell because the padlock next to it is now gone.)...

Hey!

Looks like someone pressed the reset button on your router which caused it to go back to it's factory settings that's why you lost the password.

Click here for the user manual regarding network security setup for your Dell Wireless Router.

Hope this helps! :D

Could you tell me what is the default password for linksys wireless-G? I bought this 6 months ago...

You did not mention which router model you are using (WRT, WAP, etc.), but my first try would be for username/password:admin/admin.

You can also go to this page and find your router in their database.

Note: The default values only work if the router is reset to factory default! If someone had changed the password already, this won't work. To reset the router to factory default, press the small reset button on the back of the router with a pen or needle for about 10 seconds while the router is connected to power.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

I cant renember the router password and...

Sounds like your router needs to be reset to the factory defaults by pressing the reset button on the back of the router for 4 to 6 seconds.

I have a TrueMobile 2300 router and my security code is not working. How can I change it?

The only way to reset the password if you can't remember the old one is to reset the device. To load the Dell TrueMobile 2300 Wireless Broadband Router's default settings, hold down the reset button on the router for at least five seconds. While the unit resets, the Power light blinks.
Then navigate to the router through your browser and Type the following as your username:
admin
Type the following as your password:
admin
Click the OK button.
The Dell TrueMobile Setup Page appears.

Click the Advanced Settings tab.
Click the OK button.
Click the Administration Settings button on the left side of the page.
Put a check in the box to the left of the Change Your Password setting under the section of the page titled Password Settings.
Type the password that you want to use in the New Password field.
Retype your password in the Retype Password field.
Click the Submit button.
Another window appears stating You have successfully submitted the settings to this device!
Click the Save and Restart button.
Your new password will be saved into the router settings.

This will however wipe all your settings!

Undoubtedly, it's asking for the administrator information. User name is admin and password is admin. The link will show you the default settings for the router should you have to reset it.

I forgot the user name and password to my Dell Wireless 2350 Broadband Router. How can I retrieve it?

Please look on the back of the router for a small reset button - Press this with a pin or something small and hold it for a few seconds. Then check your router manual or a sticker on the bottom of the router to use the default password for your router

Note: You will have to reconfigure any settings you changed ie port forwarding

HELP~~~XD

You just need to reset the router.

There should be a small red button on the back somewhere (not the power button, just turning on and off will not work).

once reset, access the admin screens again by going to 192.168.1.1 and entering the default password...which i think it is "password"

Disconnection problems

I see. You can try changing the wireless settings of the router. You can do that by accessing the web based utility of the router. Here are the instructions:

1. Click the Start button, and then click Run.
2. Type the following text in the Open box: http://my.router
3. If this is the first time configuring your Dell Wireless 2350 Broadband Router, or if the user name and password have not been changed from the default settings, type admin in the User Name field and admin in the Password field.
4. Click the OK button. The Configuration screen appears.
5. Under the Basic settings, under Wireless Settings change the channel from Auto to 1, 6, or 11.

If that does not work, you can try updating the firmware of the router. You can download the firmware from this site:
http://www.dell-drivers.com/dell-drivers-downloads/Dell-Wireless-2350-Broadband-Router_8689.shtml

Here are the instructions on how to upgrade:

1. Reaccess the configuration page of the router using a wired computer.
2. Click on System Tools, find Firmware Upgrade.
3. Click Browse and search for the firmware you downloaded from the site I gave you earlier. Select it and then start the upgrade. Let the firmware finish its upgrade.
