My DI-524 router doesn't seem to be working. When I try to install the router, it tells me it can't connect to the internet. The status light blinks, which I'm not sure if that's good or bad. the WAN light lights up and blinks rapidly (as if it's connected to the internet) and the # 1 port (where my desktop is connected) is a solid light. Also, the WLAN light doesn't light up at all, so I can't get any wireless.
Thanks for any help

Re: router not working, help please!
You may may need to configure your D-Link to use your type of internet!
Try following the Quick Install Guide which can be found here:
The WLAN light doesn't come on probably because you have the wireless disabled, which can be re-enabled once in the configuration for the wireless(in the document mentioned above)
If you are having any difficulty following the guide or have folloed the guid and still can't connect, please get back to me

try rebooting your cable modem by unplugging it then after 15 seconds plug it back in. let it come up, then reboot your router and wait til it comes up. If it still doesn't connect then there may be an issue with the router. I'm guessing the cable modem is OK since you were able to post here. I was going to tell you to hard wire your computer to the cable modem as well.
I have had exactly this problem and after MUCH work downloading new drivers for the Vista Pcs and updating the operating system in the DI-524 found that the 524 does not operate well with Vista. A new DI-624 integrated well with Vista, and installed with no problems. Good luck!
hey there , try this buddy
remove all the cables connected except the power cable...do a hard reset upto 45 sec...wait for the power light to be solid green...connect all the cables back...still no go try swapping the ethernet cables...good luck buddy...tell me if it doesnt work.....
I have not tried it myself with DLink but with LinkSys, yes it will work. It may take a little configuration tinkering but should work. However a few notes:
1. You should only have 1 DHCP server (both have this feature);
2. You can not have 2 identical IP address;
3. I suggest you make the 524 as the gateway and the 704 as a slave;
4. In effect you will connect 1 of the LAN port of the 524 to the WAN input of the 704;
5. You have to copy the WAN settings of the 704 to the WAN settings of the 524;
6. Or if you want to retain the 704 as the gateway, disable the identical features in the 524. I suggest you treat the 524 as a client of the 704.
Hope this gives you some idea and work out for you as it did with my LinkSys. Goodluck and kind regards.
Reset the DI-524 to its factory default settings and restore the other devices on your network to their default settings. You may do this by pressing the Reset button on the back of the unit. You will lose the current configuration settings. Also be sure to unplug the modem the plug it back in afterwards, a reboot of all devices on network maybe good idea also.
