Canon PC770 Paper Tray Does not Close Completely

Did you ever find a solution to your problem with the Canon PC770 paper drawer not closing the last 3 inches? I have the same problem - nothing stuck - There are two hooks at the end of the tray - perhaps they are supposed to hook into the back?

This is very frustrating.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I posted this problem in January - no paper was stuck but my husband and I did see the spring on the right side back of the unit which appeared to be keeping the drawer from sliding in all the way. We were leery about removing it but after the above post we did indeed take out the spring and it did the trick! In the past, when I needed to reload the paper tray, the paper tray did not come out completely so I think this spring maybe kept the drawer attached to the unit. On the day when I encountered the drawer not closing problem the drawer did come all the way out and separate from the unit.

    Thanks again for your help.

After numerous attempts, the drawer finally slid in and worked --- until today.

New problem - drawer wouldn't come out and indicator showed the paper was out when machine had paper.

Removed screws from bottom of copier - couldn't completely remove the metal plate, but was able to pull it out enough to allow the paper drawer to be removed. Only thing that could be seen as potential problem was a spring hanging down the back that did not seem to be attached to anything. (heavy duty, about 7" long and 1/2 inch diament)

Removed screw, replaced screws in bottom plate - drawer slid in fine - turned on and ran copies just fine. Don't know what the spring was for - but copier is working for the moment.

last paragraph of my fix should read "Removed spring" (not screw) replaced screws in bottom plate etc

Load paper even if there is loaded paper for canon 2520

1, Make sure you have loaded the paper correctly. Do not place the papers which are bent or folded. Verify your paper size source setting for plain paper. Make sure the paper is not thick or curled.
2, Confirm if the paper size settings and the type of media correspond with the paper which is inserted in the input tray. Ensure that there is no paper jams or foreign objects in the rear tray.
3, Clean the paper feed rollers and check if the rear tray is closed completely. Verify if the cover of the disc tray is entirely closed.

What does close the feeder tray mean

The Canon PIXMA iP4000 InkJet Printer has two paper sources for printing. Likely the top feeder tray is not completely closed (it is possible you do not have the printer set up to feed from both which may cause the error).

Code c0910

This error code means there is a paper lifting problem in the paper trays. Most common cause is improperly loaded paper. Check the trays to be sure all paper is loaded properly then turn off then back on, the MAIN power switch Not the one up on the control panel. If the code does not come back then your fine. If it does then pull out all of the paper drawers, reset the code again and then close each drawer one at a time waiting 15 seconds between each tray closing. If you close a drawer and it pops the code after a few seconds then that is the tray that is causing the problem. Double check that tray and if you can not get it to work then you will need service on that tray as it has a paper lift problem. Either the lift motor or the sensor. You can leave that tray popped open an inch or two and still use the copier with the other trays.
Good Luck and Thank You using Fixya.

I was just switching on a copier machine ''Minolta Dialta di 522'' and it appear on the screen a message saying that there is an error 0990. What is that error and how can i solve it?

Most C0900 range codes and specifically the 990 code refers to paper tray lifting. Pull out the paper drawers and check all the paper. Reload all the trays carefully. Then open/close the front door or turn off/on the machine to reset. If the code goes away great. If not then open all of the paper drawers, reset the code with the drawers OPEN. Then close each drawer 1 at a time waiting 30 seconds between each drawer closing. Once you close a drawer the code will come up within about 10 seconds. This will tell you which drawer is causing the issue. You can leave it out a bit so you can use the machine until you either find the issue with the tray or get a service guy out to fix it.

How do I load paper to print?

Hi mattside92

1) If the paper support flap is open, close it, and then pull the paper tray completely out of the machine. Lift the output paper tray cover.

2) Press and slide the paper side guides (1) and paper length guide (2) to fit the paper size.

3) Fan the stack of paper well to avoid paper jams and misfeeds.

4) Gently put the paper into the paper tray print side down and top edge first. Check that the paper is flat in the tray.

5) Gently adjust the paper side guides with both hands to the paper.
Make sure the paper side guides touch the sides of the paper.

Note
When you use Legal size paper, press
and hold the universal guide release
button as you slide out the front of the
paper tray.

Note
Be careful that you do not push the paper
in too far; it may lift at the back of the tray
and cause feed problems.

6) Close the output paper tray cover.

7) Slowly push the paper tray completely into the machine.

8) While holding the paper tray in place, pull out the paper support until it clicks and unfold the paper support flap

Good Luck, and don't forget to leave a rating

Thanks
