Question about Samson C01U - USB Studio Condenser Microphone Consumer Microphone

Sound quality not good at all

I have plugged in the mic (co1u USB Studio Condenser) and try to record in sound recorder and the sound comes out garbled and fast. Any ideas?

What operating system? Windows? OS X? What software are you using? Windows Sound Recorder?

Open up the sound icon on control panel...select recording......select samson mic....make sure set to default.....go into properties ...and boost main volume slider....most mics after install are set quite low and you have to go in and adjust the vol input level

Why is it suddenly way too quiet?

Try a different mic to see if problem follows. If yes then it is a setting. If not then the mic is bad and needs to be sent to mfg or get a new one.

Mic sound muffled static

Buy a better mic! This question reminds me of the musicians who invest in a nice JBL public address system but then use Radio Shack microphones. A good quality mic, not GREAT but just good will cost you a minimum of $100. Quit playing with toys and invest in real recording gear. Computers and hard drive recorders can easily record CD quality audio, and-so why would you use a $70 mic?

for purposes of recording quality, I would recomend getting and external sound card. M-audio make a good range. You would need to have a +48v phantom power supply for this unit to work. The sound card you buy should have this. A Pc or laptop won't

I can't hear myself while recording. I can only hear what I have recorded AFTER the fact. During recording I cannot hear anything at all. Is there a solution to this problem when using the Samson CO1U?

Depending on what audio production program you are using you will need to have the monitoring function engaged. Comment with what program and I can walk you through it. Good Luck, Cody J.

If you are using a condenser microphone, it's need phantom power (48v) to activate the mic. Hope this helps

Welcome to the world of STUDIO microphones. Super quality BUT you must have a studio to use them. You can't have any local speaker playing into them. You often use headphones lest your monitor speakers will feedback. At the high frequency capability of these mics, you can fry your amps with oscillations above what you can hear!

SAMSON CO1U recordings sound like they're underwater on my MAC

The behavior you describe suggests that the mic is not getting power. Since it is a condenser mic, it requires what is usually called "phantom power". This should be provided thru the USB port. Check to be sure that the USB port is supplying that power. Check with another port for example. If that fails, you may have a defective mic.

Your first issue is vista... it just sucks. I would have to be there to figure this one out but im going to state the obvious, does it have an installation cd you didnt use? does it have online drivers you can find? Try looking around in your control panel and messing around with some of the options, good luck.

Samson co1u recording issue

you first 3 people are idiots... maybe if you had worked with the hardware you would know how the mic works because its obvious you don't. The 4th person is correct because this is exactly how i use the mic and it captures sound in stereo format beautiful when set up rite. Using it in mono, whether use keep on one channel or two drastically reduces the crisp sound that this mic can record.
