Last night we were watching tv and all of a sudden the volume started to turn up by it self. it will continue to adjust the volume by itself util vol is at max. sometimes holding both vol buttons down will stop it but after watching tv for about an hour or two it will start again. the tv is 7 months old and has hardly been used until the past week. model # dtv2784

If your tv is on warranty take it back to supplier for another.if the warranty has expired have a tech repair your tv the Audio,or power is defected good luck.

what you describe is almost impossible ..the only explaining is someone with a compatible remote control messing around with you ..so ...pay attention ..and after that if you are completely sure that this is out of case...Leave a comment and I will search for another possible cause ..
From some of the forum threads I've read about this, it seems like there were early issues due to bad firmware, but they have all be resolved with the recent updates. It also appears to be very easy to replace the hard drive. Just swap it out, format from the menu and you are done.
Look for a "format" button on your remote control. This button may also be called "aspect" or aspect ratio. Pushing this button several times should scroll you through the variety of display options.
