Xbox 360 I recently stepped on the tray on my xbox 360 and now the drawer wont close at all. I haven't tried anything because I feel I've done enough damage.

try to unplug the xbox with the tray out then push it back in while the xbox is off and then plug it back in... if it comes back out try the button to close it... if that still doesn't work might have damaged your drive

if it doesnt open this is what i do to mine cause i have your problem ok 1st step:lift up the the front of your xbox360 console gently then step 2:drop the front of the xbox360 softly back down not hard or to violent step 3:if that doesnt work keep on hitting the open and close button were you enter the disc but not too fast ohkay well thats all my info hope it works

Unfortunately this is a common issue with the xbox. If you have tried all the steps that are provided on the xbox support website, it may be time to call xbox support and get your xbox repaired. If it is out of warranty, I'd honestly just get a new one cause the repairs run about $120 out of warranty.

Use the following steps to close the disc tray on an original Xbox 360 console.
Step 1: Remove the disc from the tray Step 2: Make sure the faceplate is on correctly
The faceplate is the plastic piece on the front of your console.

• Press firmly around the edges of your faceplate to snap it into place (make sure it is flush with the rest of the console). If the faceplate is not on correctly, the disc tray won't close.
• If you find that the faceplate is the problem, please contact Xbox Support to order a replacement faceplate.

If this does not resolve your issue, please try step 3. Step 3: Press the eject buttonTry closing the disc tray by pressing the eject button. If the disc tray successfully closes, open the tray and insert a disc. Now try opening and closing the tray with a disc in the tray.
Note Make sure that the disc isn't sticky and doesn't have any labels that could prevent the tray from closing.
If your disc drive still will not close, please try step 4. Step 4: Move the disc drive tray

1. Gently move the tray up and down, and then from side to side.
   
2. Press the eject button on your Xbox 360 console.If your disc drive still will not close, you need to have your console repaired.
3. Step 5: Request a repair If the disc tray still won't close properly, your Xbox 360 console needs to be repaired.

Xbox 360 S consoleUse the following steps to close the disc tray on an Xbox 360 S console. Step 1: Remove disc from the trayIf there is a disc in the disc tray, remove the disc. Step 2: Press the eject buttonTry closing the disc tray by pressing the eject button. If the disc tray closes successfully, open the tray and insert a disc. Now, try opening and closing the tray with a disc in the tray.

the dist is eather damaged of unreadable. try cleaning it and if its still doesnt work then if its a game then returne it and exchange for a new one

OK use those links above i am sure you will find help there.

your dvd board is damaged, therefore resulting in your xbox reading it as a dvd. it's the same thing with it saying open tray, except that your dvd board might be reading it wrong. try to spin the spinner while closing the tray. it might work, but if you want to get it fixed correctly i would want to send it in if i was you. and spin it like 5-10 times if it doesnt work the first 2-3.

There is grime build up in the reducer gears that
release the lasers assambley and pushs out the tray.
The motor is not strong enough to break
the magnet clamp that holds the game disk between
the hub and the spindle motor .

If you press eject wait 1 second and then
slap the top of the unit hard over the drive this will
break the seal and the tray should open .

try a little Vaseline under the tray in the tracks
then open and close it to work it in, this
may help a little but the drive will have to
be opened and cleaned to resolve this problem
completely

My 360 is/was having a similar problem...my 360 would say "reading disc" then "open tray". Well since my system is only about 8 months old...I opted to send it in for repair. Its under warranty. My system is in route to be fixed as we speak. I would advise you to get yours registered too.
