I have a steps by step guide on how you setup the router.

  1. First you need to connect the device together. You need to connect your cable modem to the internet port on the back of the router, and the computer should go to one of the 4-port on the router labeled Ethernet (1, 2, 3, 4).
  2. Then turn on the modem first, wait for the lights to stabilize before powering on the Linksys router.
3. If the internet is still not working; we will need to adjust a setting on the router setup page. To access the setup page of the router you need to open your internet explorer or Firefox on the computer that is hardwired directly to the router. In the address bar of your browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox) type http://192.168.1.1/ and hit enter or click Go. It will ask you for a username and password. Just type "admin" for the password field and there is no username. If you have ran the setup CD prior to this, then use the password that you have set when were running the setup CD.

4. Once you are in the setup page of your router make sure that the Internet Connection Type is set to Automatic Configuration DHCP, then click the save the settings button at the bottom of the page. After saving the settings, click the sub tab at the very top of the page that says MAC Address Clone. Set it to enable and click the button that will say Clone or Clone your PC's MAC and save the settings again.
5. After doing step 4, do a power cycle. Power cycle is done by turning of the router, modem and computer. Leave them off for a minute, tuned them back on in this order. Modem first wait for the lights to stabilize, then the router wait until the power light become solid. Then turn on the computer. This will get you online through the router.

Check if this will help get the router online.

Linksys WRT54G wireless router not compatible with Aztech modem?

Darvin, gotta love your ISP. Never fear......

if it isn't too much of a problem (knowing you have wireless setup done already), then do a factory reset on your router ** remember to copy the WEP Key if you have, or recall the PASS PHRASE so you won't have to reset all wireless devices ** Reset is located on back, you need a ball point pen to reach the reset switch.

Reset process: unplug, take ballpoint pen & insert into reset switch & plug unit back in. Sometimes tricky, but you should notice green light goes to yellow/orange upon resetting.

RESET or NOT - you want the Linksys set for ::

Connection Type - AUTOMATIC (for automatic discovery)
Router IP Address - 192.168.2.1

DCHP - ON, Addresses - 192.168.2.100 and allow 5-50 users
(for security, assign the number of DESKTOP + WIRELESS expected users +1, this way you don't get overrun without knowlege)

Take the cable from Aztech ETHERNET OUT to WAN on Linksys. (usually BLUE) (??) not 100% sure as I have the little silver pocket edition of the same Router. - power cycle (turn both DSL modem & Linksys off for 20 seconds. turn on DSL Modem, wait till it's about as ready as possible, turn on Linksys, should only take 20-30 seconds to power up & recognize.

VERIFY SETTINGS: access router - 192.168.2.1, goto STATUS. you should see IP Addressing, SubNet, DNS1 & DNS2 settings. If you do not, then you have no internet connection.

ALTERNATIVE,

Setup Linksys Router with COnnection Type: PPoE, you will need your ISP assigned ID & Password. Follow all other instructions properly.

If you still have problems, please contact me at 906-495-1707 or via Yahoo IM [email protected] or through this website.

Siemens 4200 2 computers

Yes and No! The 4200 gives you the option to connect via USB or Ethernet. You can only use one or the other to connect. You have two options. The first DOES involve another "gadget". The second does not!

Solution #1

I realize you're not looking to use additional equipment, but a network hub, switch or router will give you what you need. You can pick up a very inexpensive router for under $50 or even better a wireless router for a few bucks more.

I recommend a Linksys Wireless Router (Model - WRT54G) as it is very user friendly and comes ready to use. Just connect the port labeled "Ethernet" to the "WAN" port of the Linksys Wireless Router. Then connect both of your computers to any of the four "LAN" ports.

Solution #2

You can connect the first computer directly to the 4200 via USB and connect the second computer directly to the first computers ethernet port using a Network Crossover cable. Without a router of hub between the two computers, a crossover cable is required to allow them to talk to each other.

Once you have them connected to each other, on the first computer open the network connection properties for your internet connection (will be the one setup during the install of the USB modem) and click "Share This Computers Internet Connection".

Now the first option is surely the most reliable and keeps the traffic separate.

Hope this help!

Configuring DSL for All RJ-45 Jacks

the simpliest way is to have a wireless/ wired 4 ports router and install it beside your modem and locate where your Cat 5 cables central end is. Identify the Cat 5s that are connected to the 5 locations of your PCs if all of them are not capable of wireless connection you need to add a switch (4 port or 8 port) which you also need to connect to one Lan port of your router.

Hope this helps.

Siemens SpeedStream 2604 Router linking issue

It sounds like you are using a straight-through network cable. Try using a cross-over network cable to connect the your computer to the SpeedStream. One can be purchased for pretty cheap money from any consumer electronics store.
