Hi, I am having a problem with a Samsung Tv tx2746, mfg 1997 when playing the dvd it is too LOUD! I can't control the volume. I have tried all my remote controls...on the tv screen it shows only 2 volume bars but is blasting! When I try to lower it there is no sound! Help, my 2 1/2 year old little boy is sick and I cant play thomas and friends without our ears bursting. What shall I do? Thank you, Donna

Unless you have an 'intelligent' remote (e.g. Samsung), then you'll have to program either remote to sync with the other device. For example, if you want to use your original TV remote, then you'll find a program procedure and code in your TV manual (or online). There will be a remote button sequence you follow, including the input of the code that corresponds with your DVD model (e.g. Sony). If the remote takes the code, then it is actually programmed and should communicate with your DVD in a generic capacity. Sometimes your device remote has device-specific features that only its original remote would be able to access, so don't get rid of the DVD remote.
Using a DVD-RW disk, try ALL different recording settings even if they don't seem probable and record a sample. If output is correct with all BUT the HDMI-cable, go through ALL picture format settings on the TV when a HDMI-cable is used. Different discs and HDMI cables don't have anything to do with this. I'm still chewing on this...
Contrary to what some manuals recommend you don't NEED to run audio from a TV to anything. It's a light show, nothing more. ITS audio probably comes from a Cable Box, so you could run the best digital audio available from the Cable Box directly to the Samsung. (Page 12)
Likewise, the best TV-related video could skip the Samsung and go straight to the TV.
You have not said the TYPE of CD or DVD you are trying to play.
Your manual will clearly state what can be played and what cannot. ALSO, some mfg's like mine (samsung blu-ray) provided software or firmware updates you can d/l to flash drive or burn on cd and insert.
Check manual and your mfg websit for what's available.
Just try to clean your remote, this the common problem of dirty contacts of remote it plays a certain unit but to the other won't play.Just open it take a toothbrush with an alcohol brush the remote control board, and dry it for 1minute and close it back then check if working..
