Hello Nelson,

What are the specifications of your mace and what is your studio set-up

Have you lookied at performance monitor to see what process is using up all the memory?

If sound like you may have to tweak your machine to suit your specific needs.

I too had similiar problems and tuned my machine to to work more effeciantly...

Check to see if you have your onboard sound turned on. If you do turn it off and this should stop the double voice.

Go to Device Manager and enable the audio card.
If you cannot enable the audio card or it is not working then install the audio driver again.

Is it bus powered? If it is only plugged into the USB port and not also into the AC outlet, it may be because your USB port does not supply enough voltage or enough current. USB is spec'd at 5V, 500mA, but many fall short. I have the same problem with a Tascam US-122. I haven't tested yet, because it doesnt have an external power port. I would need to splice 5V power into the USB cable.

Hi.

Try closing down Propellerhead software. Go to sound settings in control panel, and check what is the preferred audio device in Vista settings. You should get a dialog box similar to the one below, with the 2626 detected as high definition audio device.

ginko_9.jpg

If still no luck, try updating Vista. There is a Microsoft update that may be needed to reognise high definition audio device.

See: No output audio device installed - the Fix - Microsoft Windows

Download details: Windows Vista (KB929685)

Alternative download (try microsoft first):

Download Windows6.0-KB929685-x86.msu

If that does not work, then there is another update that may be needed. See:

Download details: Windows Vista (KB937077)

Restart the computer after each update.

Regards.

Ginko.

The only real factor that comes near to Fruity Loops for Mac that is free is Auadicity. If something a little more advanced is wanted by you check out Adobe Audition or Professional Tools.

Audacity is free, open source software for editing and saving sounds.

I am using Adobe audition 1.5 for recording my songs.. now.. i am facing big problem while using that software.. there is multitrack option available in that software. we have put karaoke track in one...

Welcome to FixYa!

I assume that you know your way around adobe audition 1.5 because I'm currently using adobe audition 3 on windows 7. The menus are different, but I'm going to give a few points that might help.

Windows Sound/Volume:
Make sure that the sound card you are using is selected, specially if you are using an additional external USB sound card (which is much better). Disable other sound cards, if any.

Adobe Audition:
One of the pull down menus located on the upper part, it has an option that says "Device Properties" or anything like that. This is where you set the input signal will be coming from and likewise the output signal.

The input signal should be the input of the sound card you selected in windows. Same goes for the output signal.

On multi-track view, check the track to be recorded. Make sure that the input is from the input of the sound card and not from anything else. The button for the setting is somewhere near the Solo/Mute/Record buttons.

If this will be set correctly, you will be able to play the song on the 1st track and record ONLY your voice on the 2nd track.

Keep me posted.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Assuming you are running windows XP you need to

1. right click the speaker in the lower right corner and select adjust audio properties.

2. Select the audio tab

3. Pull the drop down menu under sound recording and make sure it is selected to your audio driver device. Most are either soundmax, creative(for soundblaster and audigy standalone cards), realtek, or ASUS.

4. Next repeat step one but select open volume control

5. Go to options and then properties

6. Select the circle for recording and make sure your mic input is checked.

7. Close that window and recording mixers will pop up. Select the input you need by checking the box in the lower left corner of the mixer channel. Adjust the level and then use your recording program or sound recorder under Program files>accesories>communication>sound recorder.

Crackley bubbly sound

  1. What version of Windows?
  2. What hardware?
My initial guess is distortion.  With some hardware, and at least on Vista, I had really bad pops/cracks with Audition 3 initially using a Creative Labs Audigy 2... sound card.  Then after getting an M-Audio Delta 1010LT, no more problems EVER.

Direct sound is not supported....

Follow these steps (Windows Vista):

Control Panel - Hardware and Sound - Sound - Manage Audio Devices - Record - Right click to show all the devices (including the deactivated ones) - Activate all the devices you can.

In Adobe Audition:
Edit - Audio Hardware Setup - Edit View - Control Panel button - Direct Sound Input Ports - Enable one device (default input will now show the device). Now you will be able to record sound.
