My Konica Minolta Dimage z5 won't play back photos

I get "system error' and the camera shuts off when I try & review photos I've taken.
This never happened before but I haven't used the camera in awhile. It was inside, not in cold or hot temperatures.
What's wrong?

System error keeps appearing when I turn on my camera. I am unable to view pictures or take pictures as the camera automatically turns off within secondsof the error message. Any ideas?

I have the same problem. I've tried using 2 different memory cards and it doesn't make any difference.

What size memory card are you using? I have had this problem trying to use a a 4gb card, which apparently is not compatible with the Z5. Using a 2gb card seems to alleviate the problem.

I can't get rid of Error message on my Konica Minolta Z5 : SD card seems blocked, even after reformatting, because some pix may have been rotated 90 degrees ???

The Z5 can display photos that it took. However, it cannot display edited photos. Due to the way the JPEG standard is defined, a rotation of the picture constitutes editing. If you rotate it four times, or once and then undo, it still constitutes editing. If you open a picture and then save it without doing anything else, it still counts as editing. Thus, if you want to put pictures back onto the card, you'll have to use the original pictures.
The proper workflow is to download the pictures to your computer. Then, if you're going to do any work on any of these pictures, do it on copies. This way, if you totally mess up an edit, you'll still have the original.

I require the driver for Vista O/S for the Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z5 Digital Camera.

You don't need a driver.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

My Konica Minolta Dimage z5 won't play back photos. I get "system error' and the camera shuts off when I try & review photos

After calling Sony and doing all the things they said to do, that I had already done, they then said to send it in for repair to the tune of a minimum 175.00. So I had this brainstorm. I put the memory card back into my computer and formatted it from the computer. It worked for me, so try it, maybe it wil work for you.

Konica Minolta DiMage Z5

The odds are you have a broken spring in the anti-shake assembly which has allowed the lens unit to shift to one side. The smudge you are seeing is the edge of the lens housing and will have a slight rounded shape. As you zoom in, you are extending the lens past this area so it no longer shows.

Can not review photos taken

First try new batteries. But, if your lens has been damaged (dropped it or maybe got sand in it) it will react like that. It is going to need service.

Try using a different Memory Card.
Then try takeing the batteries out overnight to let the camera reset.
Otherwise I dont have good news options. Sounds like It would be something internal that wouldnt be cost affective to fix.

Hope its the Memory Card,
Caleb
