If powers up on AC adapter but not on new batteries, probably a blown fuse in the battery circuit. Seems to happen frequently, indicating possible problem with this model... but Kodak won't acknowledge and will not repair if not under warranty.
With cost of repair vs cost of higher specs cameras, I replaced mine.
Most of the time, this is caused by a dead button type self recharging internal battery. Kodak won't change this for you, whether within warranty or not. If you a tech or DIY savy, you can open up your camera yourself and replace the dead battery.
If not, try to find a camera or electronic repair shop that will do it for you.

I had a similar problem. If you look in the battery compatment you will see a small switch in the keyway that gets pressed down by the key (the plastic rectagualr bump out) on the side of the battery, if the battery is loose the switch does not get pushed down and the dock does not recognize the battery as a Kodak Batery that it should charge. I solved the prblem by taping a singe piece of paper on the opposite side of the battery so that when it slides into the slot it pushes the switch down, I've nver had a problem since.
I have this camera once you remove the case screws than when ever you seporate the case the door will come out. I repair these all the time and if I have on in stock it is only 25.00 to get it fixed. I beleave you can order one directly from kodak also.
It's the fuse in the battery circuit - happens frequently but Kodak won't acknowledge a problem with the model. Repair costs aren't worth it vs replacement - and Kodak won't repair if not under warranty
