A yellow area usually in the middle of the screen indicates a damaged optical light engine.

Possible dust in light engine? What ever you do, don't blow it out with the set on or hot. This easily equals instant death to bulb.

SOURCE: Large yellow spot in center of tv screen

Sorry, but there is no cheap method of repair for this unless it is in warranty.

This TV will require replacement of the LCD Prism unit.

This Prism blocks and allows colors so that the 3 LCD images may be mixed to produce the final image you see on the screen. When this becomes damaged or defective, it leaks colors (light). This Color Leakage apears as spots on the screens.

Where you see the spots is where the specific spot on the prism that is leaking light, the specific color that is leaking also.

This parts cost alone is normally $500 to $1000 dollars but is usually replaced under warranty.

Good luck.....

thats a common symptom for that model which is usually related to the optical block. Very exspensive repair. Check with a sony authorized repair center as Sony has recognized the problem and offer assistance with certain models yours may be one of the ones affected.

Blue dots on the screen of a kdf50 grand wega

Sounds like some of the pixels on the LCD screen are not turning on which is causing the blue dots to show. (I would guess that the dots are always in the same spot.) On a normal TV these would be unlikely to be a bother, but since the Wega is a projection TV these are no doubt being enlarged on the final viewing image and so are hard to ignore.

If that is the problem there is not a lot you can do about it. If the TV is still under guarantee I would return it to the shop ASAP. If not then I suspect the cost of repair will be quite high, if not impossible other than back at the factory.

Large dot in the middle of the projected display

there is a burned-in spot on the polerizer light filter for the blue lcd. it makes sure the light is blue coming through, that's why it is black on a blue screen, and yellow when the red and green are the only light showing through. it needs to be replaced. pat # PFiLW0213CEZZ.

Panasonic PT-61LCX65 tv has color spots

if you mean color spots size of a dime or so.
  • easiest: it is dust in some step of the projection light path.
  • hardest: the light engine could be damage
if you mean little ones as little dots (a neddle punshing) red and blue but always there:
  • condition call it: pixels always on: light engine is the reason.
as you see the light engine is the main part here, IT is expensive repair. so if you can survive with those little dots do it.
IF it is dust, is good idea asking for and estimate to see if can works.

Yellow middle, Blue Exterior

Hi Druaga

This is a Blue LCD Polarizer that will have to be replaced if the spot shows yellow.

You will find that this will only get worse as time goes by.

New system - no color on screen

the cable colors have to match the tv ones if you have different colors on cables then look for the label on the cables saying video or audio (red)=audio (white)=other audio (yellow)=video EXAMPLE if the cable colors are different than the tv then if the label on the cables say video and the color is blue etc. then you have to put it on the yellow putin on the tv no matter the color. If it dosent work then try holding the cables in many angles try pulling them or anything unlit they work get something to hold them up if that dosent work then i think you should buy new cables. Yellow Spot dead center on screen

most likely the yellow dot is due to a burn in the picture on the "green" lens. It's not removable because it's burned it, but you can try cleaning it because sometimes, dots are caused by dirt. The worst that can occur is that if the dot is permanant.
