Picture too big for tv

All of a sudden, the picture coming from the cable box is too big for our tv. We have a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 cable box from Comcast. I am not sure why or what is causing this problem. Does anyone have a solution?

We have COMCAST and just in the past week, our picture is too big for our 42 inch plasma from Pioneer. I called comcast and they gave me instructions on how to modify the cable box, but of course that does not work either. Really stinks to have this happen and no one knows how to fix it

Its the signal from the cable company. There is nothing that you can do because starting next month everything is going to be like that.

How do I connect a Sony DVD DVP-SR210P to a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4240 HDC and a Sylvania TV C320SLX?

I am not sure you can connect your DVD player to your cable box. You should be able to connect both your cable box and DVD player to your TV set with two HDMI cables. This link is a pdf_usecares file of the TV manual that shows how to hook up your dad and cable box.

I would like to hook up my components without having to turn on the receiver to watch tv from DVR or Cable if possible. I have Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 HD Cable DVR w/HDMI out, Samsung TV w/HDMI ,...

You should not lose any picture quality from the DVD player. I am currently having the similar setup with PS3 as the Blu-ray DVD player with HDMI and a Samsung DVD as regular player with component cable to a Samsung LCD TV. Remember the quality on Blu-ray is better than normal DVD so don't expect more than what it is.

How to eliminate error screen:"your tv does not allow display of this program through the dvi input source. please chose another tv input source."

"cable box to tv is hdmi cable"

Everything I've read on the web says cable box to tv connection must also use component (rgb) cables. The error is coming from the cable box (STB). All the Scientific Atlanta (SA) cable boxes seem have this Digital Rights Management (DRM) bug and the only way to be totally rid of the error is to replace the digital connection from box to the TV with an analog connection.

Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 says ''EXPLORER not AUTHORIZED

The message is so cryptic...it's right. There is no way to unblock it yourself. This is the box connecting to your cable company's servers and being told that, "no, you are not allowed to access content, disable yourself." It is referred to as "bricking" as the box is now as useful as a brick.

If the box worked previously and all-of-a-sudden this happened, then it could be that there is a typo in your account, and your cable company can correct it quickly. It could also be that your bill is past due and needs to be paid. Generally if it's a past due issue, a payment will reactivate it instantly.

If you are not paying for digital service and you bought this from eBay or got it at a flea market, then you'd need to add service and add the box to your account. The problem is your cable company might not like one box reappearing on another account--it seems stolen. They may just want the box back, and give you another that would work.

Adding A DVD Player to an existing Digital TV box

You should connect the changer to the tv, not the digital box. It will still get the signal.
