Question about Mitsubishi WS-55807 TV

Convergence problems WS-55807

At first the blue convergence would not line up and would not adjust properly. After trying to adjust the red and blue, cannot adjust the red convergence at all vertically, horizontal is ok. Is there a fuse associated with this, that might have blown? Where are they located? Looked in the back of tv but can't find them. Please post any suggestions. Thanks!

When we first started to adjust convergence, the red convergence would adjust vertically but after it went to the max vert. it just quit adjusting.

I have the same problem. The red can be adjusted up and down, but the left and right won't move. I just replaced the convergence IC's. I re-touched all solder joints on the ic's. I also checked the connections with a multimeter from the pins to another component on that trace and they all seem good. I started checking other solder joints in the same area on theat board. Is there specific pins I should be looking at? Are there any resitors, caps ot diodes to look at?

On this model if the fuses that protect the convergence circuit would open up, then the set would not come on. The convergence ICs probably have a cracked solder joint on the foil side of the circuit board.Re-flowing the the solder would help. I will always replace the convergence ICs when doing this job. The labor remains the same and you will have to pay a few extra bucks for the parts. Hope this helps.

The screen has bowed lines and different colors no sound

If the model as indicate here (WS-55807) YOU may have two problems: Convergence and a audio problem.

In customer menu select convergence and with the Mitsubishi remote try to adjust the grid of lines so no red etc--if bowed it will not adjust.

This would mean the two stk-392-570 convergence chips this model uses need to be replaced(I have free start to finish instructions for that).

The no sound may and is likely a second issue: speakers in the menu may be switched off etc.

If both happened at the same instant this model has a hard reset(not from front of set but with a 4 digit code and done with the Mitsubishi remote) This sets everything except convergence adjustments back to factory original.

It is called the OPTION menu.

So, did both issues happen at exact same time or what?

Parts for the convergence repair are under 30 dollars total and I can tell you where.

Auto convergence no longer works on Mistubishi WS-55807

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms

  • Colors wont align
  • Screen may look distorted or warped

Convergence is off - Blue and Red are fine Green will not line up

On most units, the Green is constant and the Red and Blue are adjustable. Here are 2 links on how to manually adjust the convergence. There is a menu option using the remote control. Once there, you will find step by step procedure on how to adjust the convergence. Hope this helps answer your question. All the best!
