5E Washer - Won't Fill / F28 Error

Help. Rec'd new washer yesterday. Immediately, installation people from Sears couldn't get the washer to fill/run a full cycle. They stated it was fixed after a bit, and that the reason was something about the drain hose...NOT. After they left, the problem still exists. F28 error - no idea what that is. Water is on and both hot and cold are working. Washer sprays water into detergent well, locks door and then never enters full cycle. That's it. F28. Tried to rinse/spin - nothing. I think I might return the thing. Does anyone have a clue as to what the F28 error is? Please tell me it's something simple.

Ok. Sears repair came out for the F28 issue. Turns out, if you remove the toe panel (bottom of washer), and look inside - there is a diagnostic guide adhered to the right side of the washer wall - that tells you about F28. It's "Serial Communication Error". There are a few things it tells you to try. Also in the guide, there are instructions on how to run a diagnostic test on the washer to determine the issue. My problem turns out to be that the wire harness was not securely in place. Basically, we removed the top of the washer, and re-secured all wires into their harnesses. They had loosened in shipping. Now all is well.

I have had this washer for a few months and the am starting to see this error. The book says any numbers other than the ones spelled out in the manual are "electrical problems". That made sense the very first time I saw it (right after my husband ran his new welder for the first time while the washer was running). The second time I saw it I thought it might have been because my husband plugged in and turned on an air conditioning unit upstairs. Tonight I've seen this error twice and have no explaination for it. There's actually less draw on the electricity than normal as we have some fans turned off tonight (the temps came down). No clue what this is but any info would be helpful.

My maytag mtw5600tq1 washer won't hold water. Its

Its sounds like you have a siphon going on, this happens when the drain hose it too low during fill and as the water enters the unit it exits through the drain hose. To stop this the drain hose needs to be higher than the tub itself, meaning: raise the drain hose behind the washer to about control panel area. This will or should stop the siphon effect and allow the water to remain in the tub. If the drain hose is low this siphon will start again.
I hope this helps

F28 error / water starts to fill then quits in 15 sec's

F28 is a communication error which usually means there is a connection that has come loose.Check the wires on the control board.

I keeg getting the dreaded F11 anf DL code!

The following list of codes indicates an electronics communication problem with the washer:

Duet HT® washer - F01, F03, F06, F11, F23, F24, F27, F28, F29, F30, F31, F32, F35, F42, F61, F62, F63, F64, F65, F70, F71, and F99
Duet® washer - F05, F07, F09, F10, F11, F13, F14, F15, F21, F22, and FdU
Duet SportTM washer - F01, F11, F23, F24, F27, F28, F29, F30, F31, and F33
To remove the error display, press Pause/Cancel twice.
If Pause/Cancel does not work:
  1. Unplug washer or disconnect power for one minute.
  2. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
  3. Re-select the cycle and press Start.
NOTE: If the error remains on the display, then call for service.

Take care

It was putting out a error code of f28 I changed the main board on the inside of the washer no it wont run the last spin cycle but it will do every thing else was there anything else I was supposed to do...

F28 error means the CCU(central control unit) lost communication the the MCU(Motor control Unit) for an HE2 washer.
I would look inside the lower front panel and get the tech sheet and run a diagnostic test per the instructions... See what comes up. Review troubleshooting for the F28 make sure you did not miss anything.
I hope this helps

You can call whirlpool for service but the tech sheet f28 has a communication problem from you computer to the motor..

Possible Causes/Procedure
1. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
2. Check wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and

Check connections of the CCU board within the housing.
Make sure all grounding switches are engaged.
3. Check the drive system for any worn or failed components.
4. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
5. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test or any
6. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor.
7. Check the drive motor for powered rotations.
8. Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted
upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing
the MCU connectors.
