My playstation volume wont work.what should i do?

depends on which version of singstar, check on the ps3/ps2 compatibility site just in case.

first call would be to sony, this is a common sign that the blu-ray disc reade ris knackered. i know it still plays dvd's and cd's but so did mine when the reader went on it. word of warning if sony send out an engineer to take your playstation away for repair remove the hardrive as they wipe them before returning it to you, and nothing worse than losing all of your saved data and profile info.

Its the way you read the message. It's not asking for a specific formatting disc. Its telling to insert a disc of the correct format that the ps2 will play.
As you've been playing the disc for quite some it suggests the disc has become damaged, it only takes a small scratch on a vital part of the disc and the ps2 won't be able to read it and so thinks the disc is in a format it doesn't understand hence the message. Try cleaning the play side of the disc with warm soapy water and then rinse with cool water. Dry carefully with a paper towel. Do this carefully so you don't cause further damage to the disc.
The second problem is a dirty lens. A small speck of dust on the lens can cause all sorts of problems. Buy a CD or DVD lens cleaner and run it through the ps2.
