Lens Error. Hi. I dropped my camera on the 30th of December last year, while taking pictures of Christmas lights. This happened, when I was being stupid, because I didn't put my wrist ********. It slipped right out of my hands and fell lens down on the concrete while it was on. I picked it up and it said: lens error. When I turn it in, the lens will go out as normal, but the message will appear and it will turn off. The shutter only closes halfway. I think it is jammed. Is there anyway to fix this? Please help.

Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced.

My canon t3 will not take a picture sometimes unless it's fully zoomed in or out, this just started happening in the last couple weeks.

hi,
this is because of the error in the lens barrel may be dust or in the sensor point, please clean it anyway, if can't open, use a light air blower at the side of the lens.

Kodak C330 [lens error 14]

Hi Jesse, thanks for coming to FixYa.

The problem your having is that sand and/or dirt gets in the lens mechanism of the camera. When the little cog inside gets sand in it, it prevents it from moving. It is what causes 95 percent of all lens errors. The other 5 are when the retaining pins get misaligned and don't go back in the holes. Mis aligned pins happen alot of times when you drop it with the lens extended, so let's go with the easy one first.

Take an air compressor (or borrow a friends) and put the nozzle up to the space in between the lens and and the camera. Blow it out real good. It may take a couple of tries, but it should free it up.

Let me know if that helped, and feel free to rate my answer.

I have the sd1000 power shot canon. i was taking a picture the camera took the picture as normal but when trying taking another shot i got an lens error restart camera.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

One thing, you mentioned that the lens error occurred after you wer able to take a good picture. This really sounds like your battery ran down during shooting, and did not have sufficient power to properly shutdown the camera. Focus on your battery as the potential cause first. Note that if the battery is older than a couple years, it may be time for a new one. Rechargeable are not meant to last indefinitely.

Hi

No 'camera shop' out there will be able to fix your camera, they will all just want to send it to Kodak for a new lens and will want about $150-200 for the job.

I know one place online that can probably help you out. Google: "darntoothysam"

The following blog outlines some repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try if the camera's no longer under warranty:
