Mistubishi Diva Horizintal Strip Picture on Tube

Hi, I have a Mitubishi Diva 35inch CRT TV (purchased 1995-1996??)which seems to have a tube problem which seems to be intermitent. The picture seems to minimize of a inch wide strip across the centre of the screen (goes from edge to edge)...is this a tube problem?? It seems that sometimes turning the tv off for a while and turning it on seems to clear the problem....but is seems to be happening more regularly now... Can anyone help me fix this or understand the problem?? Cheers Anton

Same problem where the picture height reduces to 1" after 30 minutes with a CT-33AC2SL Diva. Have not been able to get a datasheet on what I suspect is the main IC driving the video. Can't spot any cold solder joints with a magi-lamp, can't spot any leaking electrolytic capacitors. There are too many capacitors to change and hope you get the right one. The IC I'm trying to source the datasheet is a Toshiba TA8719AN but Toshiba say its obselete and haven't got a copy. If a copy is available hopefully this will lead to the right capacitor to be replaced

Nope, the good news is that it is NOT a Tube problem! From your description, it looks more like a Cold solder in the Vertical Output stages (80% probability. Another possibility is dried out Electrolytic Capacitors in the same stages, or in the Power supply Line to the Vertical Output Stage. Nothing you can do, unless you know solid state electronics. Better get a good Technecian to have a look. he will locate the Cold solder quickly enough, and do a resolder.

hi,
You have to check the picture tube base socket. After some years of use the contacts of the base socket will become bad (normally the screen pin and focus pin). Just replace the CRT socket it will solve your problem. You can find the CRT base socket on circut board at the end of picture tube neck. Pull the circuit board straight to back,do not shack. It will damge the picture tube pins. And replace the socket with the same type. You will get it from any of the electronic spare part shop near to you. Remember one thing remove the socket from the circuit and keep it with you as sample when you are going to purchase a new one, Because there are different types of CRT sockets are avilable. Purchase one which is similar.

Hello
If the picture tube must work properly, the LOT [Line Output Transformer] must be functional. In your set, now the line output transformer is not working. Check whether the 3 filaments in the neck of the picture tube are glowing. If it does, the LOT is working, because the filament voltage are dertived from one amoung the LOT windings. If it does not, the LOT said above is not woking. There are many reasons for this fault. If line output transistor has damaged LOT will not work. LOT is one which is a step-up transformer, ofcourse, which in turn supplies all the voltages needs to the picture tube. It has a long wire connected to the top of the picture tube body, with a clip and a rubber boot. You ahve to check all the voltages to that component, and the frequency of horizintal out put transistor. Just pull out the board, turn it upside down, and note carefully if there is any loose or bad solderings at the LOT side circuits. Resolder most of the soldering joints there, by applying a little more sodler, becuse the components of these side will heat up while working, and there is possibility to get the soldering points to get loose contacted. Check this first. If it does not help you, get it repaire by any experienced service technican. If you have some knolege in the fundementals about how a TV works, you yourself can do it at home. Wish you good luck. OK>

Picture went completely fuzzy. What could the problem be?

The tv CRT( picture tube) have a radiaton posion infected in ur tv picture tube. This is how u discharge the CRT(picture tube) get the posion out.Take the tv back cover off.Take video board that connected to the CRT(picture tube) out.Plug it in,so u have a live current to the CRT(picture tube).Find a wire like an AV cable, should be find. One side of the metal, grounded to the metal frame somewhere.Take a long needle plier grab the other side of the AV cable wire, not the metal,(Caution high voltage live current).Come very close to the open CRT(picture tube).U will have a live current arc, than u,will hear a big "POP".U,just discharge the CRT(picture tube). The tv now the CRT(picture tube),now it good,it clear of posion infected in ur tv picture tube. Now,unplug ur tv.Put ur tv,back together.Hook up ur tv signal cable and plug in ur tv,now ur tv picture, will be clear, completely.I do this many times to dicharge fuzzy CRT(picture tube). When i was a tv Tech.for the SONY TV Corporation.

I have an Mitsubishi HD1080i series rptv, the tv is about 10 years old, yesterday as I was watching the World Series, my picture went to a pink glow and I seemed to of lost some of my color especially...

This may not be a picture tube problem, but considering the age of the unit it may be cold solder joints on or near the crt boards. Each tube has a CRT Board attached to the neck of each picture tube. Check these first for bad solder connections, in not then it may be the green tube has finally failed you. Getting tubes for this old of a unit will be very hard. IF it is the Tubes then i recommend you think about purchasing a newer set..

Picture tube doesn't seem to stay in place (standard tv)

A very good chance this tv was dropped or bumped. Sounds like the internal plastic frame is broken and will not support the picture tube. Find someone with tv experience to fix this. I would suggest they use a putty found at an auto parts store. To glue the tube and the frame together. This putty is in a plastic tube. You tear off a piece and fold it several times to activate. It will surely do the job.
