haha thats the antitheft shroud to stop mechanics from opening the lock with a saw blade slid down the side of the window ,but it has never stopped me when i worked in car rental, any way the door lock has three screws in the side door jam ,if you mean the lock barrel mechanism then to remove the shroud just break it out with a big screwdriver because it clips in
My 1998 passat done the left rear and drivers side then all.Take out the drivers side lock barrel, open door and undo 1 torx screw until it stops(it cant be removed fully) and then pull the handle lightly half way and wiggle the barrel out.Spray wd40 onto the inner bits and try get it into the plastic slot area(operates the sensors that cause this problem) . Put back and tighten up and then do this to all doors.Lubricate all door lock catches by spraying wd40 into every hole or orfice you see and that should help.
you'll need to remove your door panel (screws are by the door handle,
arm rest, under door and side of door) and pull back the weather seal (can't reuse it, but it's not that important) and you will be able to access everything.
I'm not sure what you mean by lock barrell.. I'm guessing the cylinder which you'll just have to bolt back onto the door.. you may need to find a specific bolt though....
it is better to buy a new ignition barrel.it takes a special socket to get the screws out, once the screws are out they do not need to be replaced.buy new barrel, disconnect negative battery cable, disconnect wires from barrel assembly, remove barrel from colum. first take vin# to dealership parts department to get correct barrel assembly, the keys with new assembly will fit doors and trunk
in case you haven't figured it out by now. open rt side door and top right corner is the filter push the little plastic tab and the housing drops down , a quarter turn counter clockwise and the filter should pull out, reinsert the new filter screwing clockwise and close housing, remember to pull water from dispenser right away you will have let air into system so some sputtering will occur till its purged
There is no lock. More than likely the Door is off track and needs to be reset or ice has set up in the track ceaseing the rails up. In any case this isn't easy you need to get your bottommount freezer door pulled open you may have to use some force and be very careful not to brake it there is alot of plastic. Once you get the door completely out of freezer unclip the rails from the plastice rails and reset the two gears (evenly) to make door shut right. Push metal rails all the way back to you hear a click. Then reverse steps to install freezer door.
when you get to the small rectangle hole use a small flat screw driver. you'll see the lever on the door side. put you're screw driver to the front and pry it backwards and it will unlatch.just pressing on it won't do anything.
