Hello I have a similar problem. I have had my burner for about a year; all has been well until now. After burning a dvd most of them freeze or skip at times. Does anybody know the problem? I tried different burning software and I have tried different media all with the same problem. It also seems to freeze and skip at the same point on the dvd after burning again.

I have the same problem. Mine happens 3 to 6 minutes into the disk. I also noticed that there is a "ring" on the recorded side that is about 3 to 4 mm in from the center (start) of the recorded area. It is only barely noticable in the right light. I'm beginning to think there is something blocking the laser light at that point. I've also tried different burning programs with the same result. I'd be curious to see if there was a errant hair or soething else in the mechanism that causes this.

My burner is connected to my computer it burns but when we try to play on our dvd player it want work. it plays back on the computer

Hi,

This indicates that your DVD player does not recognize the codec that was imbeded in your DVD movie when you were burning it. There are two things you may try to resolve this issue.

First, download and install K-lite codec pack to complete your codecs for different media formats. There is the BASIC, STANDARD and FULL for 32bit Windows version. Or, if you have a 64bit Windows version, you may download and install the 64bit version codec.

Then, adjust your DVD burner program to burn compatible settings that your DVD player is limited for.

Burn a sample movie for testing. You are welcome to respond/comment for further assistance.

I hope this works for you. Good Luck!

When I burn movies from my hp laptop the movie burns fine, but when i watch the movie on my dvd player it plays fine until 1/2 way and then freezes. What can I do to stop this from happening?

Use a high density CD-R or DVD-R disc not the RW (read-write) ones to sustain quality. Also, when you are using Nero, check the option "Verify Disc integrity" before clicking the "burn" command so that the disc will be verified on its data integrity after the burning process is completed.

My HP DVD 740 won't recognize blank CDs

Sounds like the lens is dirty. Run a cd cleaner through the drive. That should take care of it.

Dvd burner won't burn!

do you still have the software for your external dvd...if so...uninstall it....now start all over like it is brand new...reinstall and reconnect the dvd....this shoud do the trick...

FYI
all dvd movie take 2-3 hrs to burn (some even 4 hrs..depends on the lenght)...and for the future never just turn off any data transfering devices....not even your pc when windows is updating....

How can I burn a CD or DVD of a "movie" I made with photos and music? I am using Microsoft Picture It Express 9. Any help would be great!

Hi!

Firs of all you need to think on in what format you having that movie in. I guess you want to play it in a ordinary dvd and and they are restricted, all dvds plays mpeg bur not all plays dvix, xvid etc

When you have decided the format you need a burning program, one of the best is Nero ( http://www.nero.co ) its not free but you can download and try it for 30 days.
Another program is cdburner ( http://www.cdburnerxp.se/ ), that oen is free, not as good as nero in my opinion..but..its free

After installing the burner program you need to select if you need a cd or a dvd disk to burn on, a cd takes 700mb, there are cd:s that takes 800mb but they are more expensive. A dvd takes 4,7gb.

Now its time to burn, start the program select the disk you going to burn on, then its just to drag and drop the moviefile you want to burn. When the movie file is in place, start burning, select the burning speed, dont burn to fast since you burning a movie, i recoemnd a speed of 15-20x speed

After burning, your done! take out the disk ans enjoy your movie!
Let me know how it goes

Good luck
Nic

PS, i asume that you have a cd/dvd burner on your pc
