look in toolbox as you install ink and cartridge
move the artridge from printer and test in on the paper

How do i scan a photo with hp deskjet f340 all in one?

Place your document or picture on the glass. If scanning film, placethe 35 mm negative or slide in the special adapter provided by HP.Select the Scan Picture, Document or Film button depending on what youare scanning. Select the Make Copies button to copy the document orpicture directly. Click "Scan" and then "OK" to see the scan preview.
