Something not latching is usually spring related. If you feel like taking it apart you can probably find out what is keeping it from latching.

Disk tray is not spinning

The way to fix this is to open the disk tray and blow inside for about thirty seconds getting the dust out of the way of the laser also blow across the disc tray and the surface of the disk. Then keep closing and opening the tray and it will start to read hopefully. if this does not work go out and buy a disc cleaner. it looks like a disc with sponges on it and when you insert it into the console it cleans the inside for you. Disk stuck in Koss c928. DVD powers up and says waiting. How do I get the disk out and how do I reset unit

There should be a small hole on the door of the disk tray. insert a paper clip in the hole to manually open the disk tray. remove the disk and see if the tray will open and close normally. If it does put another disk in and see if all is well. If not I would have a repair center look at it.

Dreamcast is not reading disk says please put in disk

There can be 1 or 3 problems with this
1 The laser lens needs to be replaced
2 The motor that spins the disc needs replacing
3 The motor that drives the laser carriage needs replacing.

90% of the time its the laser lens

Says open on screen but door is closed and movie wont play

The switch that detects whether the door is open or not could be defective. You can locate the switch by the notch on the disk lid and where it inserts into the base. Try triggering the switch by pocking it with a paper clip while the lid is open. If it says that it is closed and the disc plays then the lid isn't closing securely. If it still says the lid is open after you can hear or feel the switch click then it may need to be replaced.

I bought a gamecube online and it wont spin the disk

Sounds like you need the Gamecube sensor switch replaced. That is a small door device for detecting when the Gamecube DVD door or lid is closed allowing disc initiation to begin. When your Gamecube doesn't detect disk at all and simply continues the message: "Please insert a NINTENDO GAMECUBE DISC," this is the problem. You can test this by inserting a game disc, opening the Gamecube door, and then closing it. If the message "Please insert a NINTENDO GAMECUBE DISC" remains unchanged, and there is no spinning of the disk, then your GameCube lid closed door sensor is probably broken and should be replaced. You can search Google for Part GCPT032, or for GameCube Lid Closed Door Sensor.

An easy fix if you know how to open the Cube. It's cable simply plugs in, and it is held by one tiny screw.
