Hi I have a 15 year old Frister Rossmann serger which I got second hand 10 years ago. It has had one break down which was my fault for not getting it serviced for 8 years. Not sure where in world you are. They sell as Frister Rossmann in UK and Europe and Kenmore in the US. I've used it mainly for dressmaking and soft furnishing projects. One more thought on the Bernina have you tried leaving a query / searching on the US Bernina website www.berninausa.com I use them alot. Try and stick with getting the Bernina sorted, I love mine! First the simple solution. Make sure your needle is inserted flat side to the back and all the way up.
The only other thing I can think of is that your hook is out of time and this will take a technician to re-time it. You may need to take it in for a servicing.

You can only oil the moving parts that you can see unless you want to take the machine apart which I do not recommend.
