When I turn on the Camera, the Zoom keeps moving back and forth. This happens quite frequently but once it starts behaving okay, I can take pictures as long as I want to. The moment I switch it off and on again, the problem repeats. I had got the ON/OFF Switch replaced as the service engineer told me that there was an issue with the Switch. But the problem still persists. Can some one help in letting me know what could be wrong so that I can get it repaired

When your Olympus camera goes straight to "Zoom Error" and then turns off, it is likely that there is an issue with the camera's lens mechanism. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
Turn off the camera and remove the battery and memory card. Then, wait for a few minutes before re-inserting them and turning the camera back on.
Gently move the lens back and forth with your fingers to see if it can be moved and if it is stuck.
Use a can of compressed air to blow dust and debris out of the lens mechanism.
Check the lens for any physical damage such as cracks or dents.
Try using the camera without the zoom function to see if it still turns off.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it may be best to contact Olympus customer support for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose and fix the issue or tell you if a repair is needed.
It's important to keep in mind that the Olympus camera is an older model camera, which makes it harder to find replacement parts and professional repair services. If the camera is still under warranty, you may be able to get it repaired or replaced by the manufacturer.
the same thing was happening to mine, what i did was i moved the lens area back and forth,gently while turning it on and off, maybe its dust or maybe one of my little ones messed with it. i plan to keep on messing around wit it so that i won't have to be doing that, but meanwhile that worked to get rid of when it says zoom error. hope this temporary solution works.;-}
The slightly open shutter is the reason for this problem. Thank God you mentioned it.
Solution: Try with your fingers to shift the shutter “blades” back and forth to see if they move freely. If they do no move freely it maens the shutter “blasdes” and stuck by particles/dust/something. So you just continue to shift them like that untill they are free again. Once they are free turn your camera back on and it should perform as normal.
Hi taataa (cute name) Does the lens seem to come all the way out, and does it move, in and out, when you turn the zoom control back and forth ? let me know and we'll go from there. Regards, Paul
I have had the same problem with my camera. It mostly occurs when my battery is going dead. It will go in and out while trying to turn the camera on and off. It will get stuck open and stuck closed and sometimes half way.
I put new batteries in, and it works like a charm. I can now tell my battery is going dead when it starts to behave that way.
The scanner is having trouble getting its "white reference" usually due to dusty mirrors, but can also be the bulb losing brightness. These are not a easy machine to pull apart if your not used to it.
Good colour laser MFP, depends on volume of prints and remember colour dont come cheap, but dont use refill cartridges, Kyocera and Oki both have good Models
