Question about Brother MFC 420CN All-In-One InkJet Printer
You need all colours to print even though you are are using black only. Actually unless your particular model has a dedicated black setting all colours are used for black printing.

Dear Jackboy,
I thank you for your prompt response and your help. I will go out today and buy the appropriate ink cartridges.
Why is that all tanks need to be full or at least not completely empty for printing to occur? Do you by any chance know? I hope it wasn't some idea that Brother crafted forcing us to always buy color ink tanks.
How do I know if my particular model has a dedicated black setting for printing? Additionally, do you know why I wasn't able to fax anything either? Do I need to have ink to fax docuements?
Once again, thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it.
Best Regards,
Maestro
