JUST LIKE OTHERS POST - ours once in a great while would work. we tried shutting the breaker off - hoping it would "reset" itself. Its like the control panel is messed up. There were times after I would unload - shut the door - it would want to run. Even hours after unloading like in the middle of the night I would wake up and it would be running. It does a great job when it works properly. We have the breaker off, been doing dishes by hand. What is the problem - why doesn't Haier help out with some troubleshooting?
Sounds like your control board is in need of replacement. For the time being instead of shutting off the breaker just close the door to the unit but don't latch it. To start the unit the handle needs to be locked unless there is something that I am missing. Good luck...

From previous experience, I would bet that the circuit board/ control panel is failing. The one I had leaked steam near the top of the unit and the condensation will work it's way into the top control panel. Bad design on Haier's part. The worst part about mine was there is no adjustment for the door. I ended up getting a refund on the unit and buying a very nice LG model. Good luck dealing with Haier. They will send A&E factory Service out and they are not very good. I would suggest getting rid of the Haier. (personal opinion)

You'll have to slide the dishwasher out from under the cabinet to get a better look at the hinge cable system and you should be able to look at the other hinge to see what broke. could be the cable itself or the spring or a retainer. You will not know until you compare to other hinge. After you find the problem you can go to www.repairclinic.com and they may have the part and the picture if not you can talk to a person live chat. My dishwasher had the exact same symptoms. The control panel was faulty. I discovered this by testing the connector with my multimeter, looking for the LED connections. When I wasn't able to find anything, I carefully peeled it off. (See picture.) I expect at least one of the traces underneath the nasty brown line is faulty, causing the control panel to not function. On the control board, I jumpered the first pin to the fifth pin from the bottom of the connector, as viewed with the Haier brand right-side up, and pots & pans started right up.
