Question about NetGear WIRELESS PRINT SERVER 54MBPS W/4PORT SWITCH (WGPS606NA) Print Server

1 Answer

Prints part of the page then restarts the print

I have a HP officejet 6110 all-in-one printer attached to this print server. And i never had this problem when the printer was attached driectly to the printer which is why im posting this in this section. I will also post this in the printers section incase anyone there has seen this problem. When I print remotely, it prints part of the page and then restarts the print on a new page. Some times it restarts once, twice three times, util it prints the whole page and stops. Any suggestions?

The annoying thing about this problem is that it happens sporatically. I updated my firmware and waited to see if that would work. And eventually found out it didn't. I just changed the printer spool setting to directly print and am waiting to see if it break. If it does break i'll let you know, and if it works i will also let you know.

Do you think it could also be that since its remotly printing, the signal isn't great. So it tries to print but then looses the signal, so it restarts?

Another thing is that the laptop that this has been happening to is using Vista where as the Desktop that i havent seen the problem with is XP. The printer is compatible with vista and the print server so that shouldnt be the problem. And the Desktop has a wired connection to the print server. so that could also go back to the poor wireless signal.

Like i said before i'll let you know if anything else happens. Thanks for your help so far.

Yeah i gave up on this and took it back as well. Now i have a regular wireless router and i use this software i found PrinterAnywhere. its freeware that lets you print to any printer over the internet. I have the printer set up to my desktop that is by the printer/router with the software on it. And also have the software on the wireless laptop. They don't have to be on the same network, as long both comps are on the internet.

One suggestions would be to update the firmware of the Netgear Wireless print server Download the firmware for your print server from Netgear's website Instructions for upgrade are on the site! you can also try changing the spool settings, Set it to Print directly to printer RightClick on the printer click on properties and click the advanced tab. Change the spool setting to print directly to printer!! If this doesn't work kindly let me know! regards, babb

HP 6110 Officejet all-in-one will not print from the glass top. It will make prints coming from the computer after I press "enter" from message "paper jam". I also can fax. Please help.

You will need to open the top and look inside where the paper travels through and attempt to free any paper pieces that have gotten stuck in the pathway. You probably have a bad board in your control panel, since you are able to print from the computer.

Only test page prints nothing else prints blank page then starts 2nd blank page and stops midway through

Does the printer display any errors on the printer screen? You could try performing a print cleaning, check this manual for more directions how to do that.

Hp officejet 6110

This prints out an alignment page for your printer to check and see that all the colours are visible and lined up properly. Installation of the printer is not complete until you do this. It will then ask you if Alignment was successful, and if it is click Yes. Your printer will now be functioning properly.

Hope this helps

I know this sounds dumb, but alignment pages use the color cartridge to make black print. Are you sure your black cartridge is working? and what does the windows test page come out looking like?

Prints part of the page and then restarts

Connect it back to the computer and verify it's still working properly that way. It does indeed sound like a compatibility issue, but it may be correctable with a quick chat with the friendly folks at NetGear.
