4205 stops after a few seconds, beeps, every segment of every digit lights up.
I have a 9 month old MMV4205BAB, and it stops when running.
It has been fairly good at cooking the first 7 months.
Then one day, it would start 'cooking' normally and after 2 to 5 seconds, will give a 1 second 'beep' then all the display illuminates ( every segment of every digit) like 8's with an X in them. And the cook process stops.
The Maytag 'Authorized' repair service has been out 2 times and keeps telling us the replacement parts are sabotaged, but the SAME PROBLEM is found.

Re: 4205 stops after a few seconds, beeps, every segment...
Sabotaged??? What could they mean by that??
It could be a bad control panel or connection, but I would say you have a bad magnetron, the magnetron is mounted loosely, or the RF gasket (mesh washer) on the magnetron is missing, loose or damaged.
I would contact MayTag and see if they have a different authorized servicer in your area, or get on the phone and complain to them in great detail.
Do not put up with this, please.

When a Panasonic Inverter Microwave shuts off after a feew seconds, it is either a bad inverter which is the quite expensive circuit board that powers the magnetron that puts out the microwave energy, or a bad magnetron, Or BOTH typically this would be a costly repair, But since it is still under warranty. You need to find a Panasonic warranty service provider in your area. If it is a counter top unit, you may have to take it to them for repair.
Robert, I will post links below that may address your problem. "I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button. Check out some of my other posts if you need more tips and info."
HI..there is a heating filament of an oven MAGNETRON..it s responsible of producing heat to the oven..possibly this is defective ..this filament must be replaced by a new one..theres no problem with the motor cos it runs the table power and light button seems working..HOPE THIS HELPS..thank yuo for choosing fixya..
Not a complete answer, but may help describe problem: Our R-510B should be the same except for color, and for several years it has intermittently messed up its display. The left side two segments on the units digit won't light up. So a digit 8, without the two vertical bars on the left, comes out as a letter E reversed left to right. Any digit that uses the two left segments (traditionally labelled segments E and F when talking about 7-segment displays) comes out wrong. Every thing else works fine. I can't tell if this is your problem.
This is almost surely a bad contact at the interface between the LCD display panel and the PC board: Typically there is a "squishy" conductive strip that connects them, and I expect grease has gotten in there. If so careful disassembly and cleaning with a mild solvent should fix it. Since we can live with it, and it usually fixes itself in a few weeks, I have not got around to taking it apart.
Your magnetron tube is leaking RF energy inside and zapping the main board. It is NOT dangerous as any leakage will be contained inside the unit. You will need a new mag tube and it is covered by a 5 or 10 year parts warranty. Call GE Factory Service at 1-800-432-2737or schedule online at www.geappliances.com
Hi, F-9 error code indicates a defective control board, inverter or line voltage too high. f the microwave runs for about 7 seconds with a ticking sound..then
stops and shows "F-9", it is the magnetron that has failed. The fact
that the unit starts and runs with the TICKING SOUND means the control
board is sending signal to inverter board and the inverter board is
sending signal to magnetron. Magnetron is covered by full 5 year
warranty, inverter board is only 3 years.
We'd need the full model number to be sure, but it sounds like an inverter failure.
Due to the lethal voltages involved, I do not recommend that a person without training and experience ever work on these models.
I would call Sears for service. See http://www.sears.com
