Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 Digital Camera

Cant open or view files

I have a Sony DSC-W70 that i generally plug directly into an available USB port, (Im running on internal memory only) usually it works when i plug it in and turn it on windows recognises it and allows me to open the files. now i get to the files and no previews are available and i cant open them. If i try to go to my computer and access the drive directy it askes me if i want to format it? there is one other person who uses this camera, so he might have screwed it up, any ideas?

Actually since the time i originally posted this i have solved (or bypassed) the problem, Instead of plugging it in via the USB cable I have bought an internal memory card reading drive (that fits into a standard 3.5" drive). Now i do not have any problems.

Plug sony cyber shot into usb but nothing happens pics on cam are saved to internal memory no me mory card in it cant get my pics

The sony Sony cybershot camera connect direct to P. You don`t need drivers. Look in control panel if they are a Yellow mark near the device and remove.
If you can`t see the camera in control panel (Device manager) try connect to other USB ports or replace cable.

New computer, cannot locate disc to download pictures for Digital cameral Sony DSC Cybershot7.2 mega pixels DSC W70

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Can't import pictures from my sony cybershot dcsw70 camera

Try replacing the data cable.
Try replacing the Pro Duo Memory stick, or use a card reader to test the memory card.
Test the camera on a different USB port, and then on a different computer.

This can tell you if the problem is the computer or the camera.

If the problem is the camera , then the USB data port may be defective.

If the problem is computer, try doing a system restore to a date before problem started.
If that does not help you may need to reinstall the system.

Transfer pics from internal memory to memory stick

look im sorry to be so mean. but come on dude... it has a "USB PORT"! you take the memory card out of the camera first, then you plug it(the camera) into the computer and turn it on and it will automatically show up as "Sony MemoryStick" in "my computer" then navigate to the obvious file containing directory. copy and paste them to where you please...

keep in mind you have to be set to "Normal" mode for it to work or you may have trouble. hit the menu button to explore the 3 option menu. you cant get lost.
