I want to start inter net from my laptop what to do

Hello Punitrava, Hi, you can connect to the internet several ways, here are the common ones. 1. Via a free WIFI hotspot, find a WIFI area like in malls or coffee shops and enable you WIFI connection on your laptop. after enable the laptop detects the wireless connection and simply connect. 2. Via a USB modem, inquire about this on your wireless telephone company. 3. Via the Local Area Network like computer shops, insert any available LAN cable on your LAN connection, you need to consult the LAN administrator. 5. Via a DSL connection, just plug in the LAN cable from a DSL to your laptop. you need a DSL/internet account from your telephone company.

Need my laptop to communicate wireless to printer

If the printer does not have a built-in network card/print server then there is a couple of ways to do this.
If you have a desktop computer connected to the wireless router with a LAN cable, then connect the printer to the desktop computer and make this printer a shared printer on your network. This means that the desktop computer and printer needs to be on when you want to print from the laptop.
The other way is to purchase a print server, connect the printer to the print server and connect the print server with a LAN cable to the Wireless router.
If you don't have sufficient network ports on the wireless router then you need to purchase a hub. Then connect the hub and wireless router with a LAN cable and then the print server to the hub and other computers to the hub.
Setting up the wireless printing will depend upon which method you want to adopt and I can advise you when further when you are ready.

How to connect a laptop having vista home basic with a xp desktop

Be advised that,
it makes not different to connect one PC/Laptop to another one via LAN because when you connect your system in lan networking you system will be automatically detected if LAN has been set up through a server.
And if not you need to do manually by assigning ID address on bot PC/Laptop.
For that,
first assign an IP address in either Laptop or desktop (IP address must be same category)
ex.
192.168.1.231 (first one)
and second one should be
192.168.1.here you can up (instead of 231) any number excep 0 but make sure not confliction between other system. means not duplication IP address on same LAN.
once you ae done with IP assigning
Go to
Star>Run>command and hit enter
once you see command prompt then
type there:
ipconfig and hit enter (it shows your ip address) if you wanna have more info then type ipconfig/all
once you are done with this then
you need to ping to your next PC.
for that
type in
ping 192.168.1.231 (means you need to type another PC's IP address here)
and hit etner
if you see like on image
then you are good to go.

Apple user attempting to fix dad's dell laptop windows xp home edition

I'm confused because you say your trying to make a lan connection on the dell laptop but your connecting it via firewire into a DSL modem. doing this method would be a WAN connection and not a LAN connection. To make a lan connection you need to connect the laptop via network cable (or wireless connection) to a router that is connected to your actiontek dsl modem.

I can help you connect the laptop to the internet but 1st i need to know if your trying to connect it to a router or did you want to do a wan connection from the dsl modem.

Thanks,
Brad Nelson
