If the device is less than 1 year old then return it for replacement. If it older than this - replace the camera with a new one. Repairs are not usually offer for this type of thing.

It sounds like you have bad batteries. I have had rechargeables that have suddenly done the same thing. I have learned that buying really cheap ones doesn't work out. If you buy a good branded set, I think you will find that they are much better. :)
I can buy a new screen for the S5800 from my suppliers and fit it for you for approx £45.00 including postage back to within mainland UK only. You would need to send the camera to me.

Sounds like your LCD screen is broken. Did you drop the camera? You may be able to find a screen or a broken same model camera with a good screen on eBay. Changing it out, however is NOT for the faint of heart. You will need tiny tools to work on tiny parts with very small electrical connections, a steady hand and nerves of steel with a service manual at your fingertips so that you disassemble only what is needed in the correct order and don't do additional damage. Still want to try it? I recommend taking it to a reputable camera store and getting a quote to repair it. Weigh that cost against the cost of replacing the camera. In the meantime, switch over to the Electronic View Finder. Good luck. (FYI: I will undertake the repair of anything short of a nuclear device, but I will not try a digital camera of any kind.)
Have you tried to format the camera? Alternatively, and don't mean to sound rude but have you taken the lense cap off?
Are you getting any menu options on the lcd screen or is it totally blank? If this is the case then likely there is a problem with your camera and you should speak to who ever you bought it from.
